Five new players cracked the top 100 of the list. Whether these guys were overlooked or underappreciated, flew under the radar, or just took off in their senior year, they are worthy of high ranking now.
Check out these new entries to the top 100 of 2021:
35 Nate Johnson Nate Johnson 6'3" | CG KC Washington | 2021 State KS , 6-foot-3 combo guard, KC-Washington:
Johnson is an explosive, athletic guard who can handle the ball and excels in the full court. At 6-foot-3 he’s got a height/length advantage on most point guards, and he’s got blow-by speed and quickness. He’s also got toughness and strength to power to the goal and the leaping ability to make plays above traffic. Johnson’s stock continues to rise. He’s received several college offers lately.
41 Lucas Hammeke Lucas Hammeke 6'0" | PG Hutchinson Trinity | 2021 State KS , 6-foot point guard, Hutchinson Trinity:
Hammeke was third-team 2A as a junior and should have cracked the Prep Hoops rankings earlier. But it’s never too late to give a guy his just deserts. Hammeke was first-team 2A this year, pouring in 21.2 points per game to become the school’s all-time leading scorer. Hammeke is a selfless player who has racked up a ton of assists in his career as well. He’s a slashing guard who can score at all three levels.
88 Cole Scott Cole Scott 6'4" | PF Stanton County | 2021 State KS , 6-foot-4 power forward, Stanton County (pictured):
The 2A standout scored 18 points and pulled down 9 rebounds per game as a senior. Scott is a leaper with athleticism and explosiveness. He runs the floor well, plays above the crowd and can score in a variety of ways. He handles the ball and can drive the lane, where he elevates for jumpers or gets to the rim.
91 Aaron Skidmore Aaron Skidmore 6'3" | SF South Gray | 2021 State KS , 6-foot-3 small forward, South Gray:
One of the most successful and decorated athletes in Kansas, Skidmore should have been ranked earlier. He was first team 1A as a junior. After a stellar football season, he earned first team in hoops again as a senior. He led his team to the state finals by scoring 20 points in a win against Hoxie. The powerful senior helped make the Rebels a power in two sports.
96 Jackson Schulte Jackson Schulte 6'4" | SG TMP | 2021 State KS 6-4 shooting guard, Thomas More Prep:
Schulte is a long, smooth guard/wing who can fill it up from outside or on the move into the lane. He got some recognition as a fine junior, but he took off this year, earning first team 3A honors. He handles the ball, guards various positions and moves without the ball to get shooting opportunities. He averaged 18.5 points as a senior.
