Five new players entered the ranks between 100 and 150. Whether these guys were overlooked or underappreciated, flew under the radar, or just took off in their senior year, they are worthy of high ranking now.
This group happens to be all guards from small-school ranks.
Check out these new entries to the 100 to 150 range of 2021:
123 Brady Frickey Brady Frickey 5'10" | CG Ellis | 2021 State KS , 5-foot-10 combo guard, Ellis:
The small guard earned third team 2A honors as a junior, then moved up to second team as a senior. Frickey averaged 19.2 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Railroaders. He can shoot it from deep and creates a lot of opportunities for himself in transition. But he also dished out 2.6 assists per game as a senior.
124 Kobe Hoover Kobe Hoover 6'0" | CG Washington County | 2021 State KS , 6-foot combo guard, Washington Co:
Like Frickey, Hoover earned second team 2A this year. He starred in the playoffs, including pouring in six 3’s and 21 points against eventual 1A champ Hanover. He used his quickness and ball skills to get to the goal and score in the lane. Hoover was tough at both ends and good at turning defense into fast offense.
146 Cameron Beardsley Cameron Beardsley 6'0" | CG Valley Heights | 2021 State KS , 6-foot combo guard, Valley Heights:
Beardsley finished strong for Valley Heights and wound up third team 2A. He averaged 15.8 points on the season, but had a number of 20-plus performances down the stretch. A tough baller, Beardsley brought football ruggedness to the court. He drew a lot of fouls and got to the line a lot.
147 Jake Harvey Jake Harvey 6'1" | CG Uniontown | 2021 State KS , 6-foot-1 combo guard, Uniontown (pictured):
A 1,000 point scorer at Uniontown, Harvey earned third team 2A as a senior after garnering honorable mention honors as a junior. He was a threat from deep and made plays at the defensive end. His combination of length and athleticism made him a steals leader for the Eagles.
148 Chase Wiebe Chase Wiebe 6'2" | CG Berean Academy | 2021 State KS , 6-foot-2 combo guard, Berean Academy:
Like Harvey a third team 2A standout, Wiebe was listed on the third team of 1A as a junior. He was a long, athletic and versatile competitor for Berean Academy. He gets a lot of our his ball handling ability, creating opportunities for himself and others. He can score in traffic, elevating and getting shots off through contact.
