Owen Cockrell — Next Level Grind — PF
As a 6-foot-4 power forward, I think that Cockrell has a lot of potential. At the Midwest Showdown, he played with effort on defense, as he used his frame and long arms to block shots. On offense, the strong-bodied prospect showed that he has no problem finishing layups through contact.
Sam Ngando — Minnesota Magic — SF
Ngando is an athletic small forward that is really fun to watch. He isn’t a great isolation scorer, but the Minnesota Magic prospect can really become a problem if the opposing team doesn’t box him out. On a Friday night game, Ngando used his athleticism to grab countless offensive rebounds and put the ball back up for an easy bucket.
Bryce Gantz — Wisconsin Blaze — PG
Gantz is a real problem on both ends of the court. On defense, he is able to use his quickness to jump in passing lanes to create tipped passes that lead to steals. In the first half of a game on Friday night, I counted at least three times that the point guard got a steal that led to a layup. On offense, he is a fearless attacker that always takes the ball to the cup with 100 percent commitment.
Dupree Fletcher — Kevon Looney Power Five — PG
Playing for one of the more talented 15U squads, I thought that Fletcher did a great job of getting his teammates involved in the offensive action. When he has the ball in his hands, Fletcher is also a great scorer. He is a slippery point guard that can get downhill and finish at the rim.
Gavin Meister — Wisconsin Academy Elite — PG
Meister is a dangerous shooter from three. If opposing teams give him an inch of space, he will almost always look to get a shot off. The Wisconsin Academy Elite point guard is also a tremendous floor general that does a really good job of running his squad’s offense. In Wisconsin’s 2024 class, Meister is a prospect to keep an eye on.
Carter Kadow — Wisconsin Academy Elite — SF
Kadow is a high-upside small forward that had a really good weekend in Appleton at the Midwest Showdown. Standing at 6-foot-6, the Middleton product is able to use his height to block shots on defense and score in the lane on offense. If he continues to round out his game, Kadow will definitely own a top spot in the rankings.
Alex Trotter — Pride Roc — CG
Trotter caught my eye on Saturday morning. I thought that the Pride Roc combo guard did a really great job of penetrating the lane and putting a lot of pressure on the opposing squad’s defense. He also showed an ability to shoot the ball, as the combo guard converted on some tough jump shots.
