Ethan Hoelzel — Next Level Grind 2024 — PF/C
With his 6-foot-10 frame at the 15U level, there are not many players that are going to successfully step in Hoelzel’s way. On Friday, the power forward/center did a terrific job of using his size to dominate on both sides of the ball. On offense, he got position in the paint and finished layups. On defense, he used his long arms to protect the paint and influence shots.
Collin Samson — Next Level Grind 2024 — SG
I was really impressed by Samson’s ability to score the ball on Friday night. Standing at 6-foot-3, Samson is a tall guard that has a sweet shooting stroke from behind the arc. In the second half of his team’s win, he also had a really nice finish at the rim in transition. If he keeps improving, I think that Samson will be a prospect to keep an eye latter in his career.
Bryce Gantz — Wisconsin Blaze 2024 — PG
Gantz did a lot of really positive things on both ends of the court today for Wisconsin Blaze. Early in the first half, the 5-foot-9 point guard used his speed to cause a lot of problems on the defensive end. On a number of occasions, he stepped in a passing lane and got an easy steal. In the second half, these steals led to easy buckets for himself and his teammates.
Jude Willcock — Minnesota Magic 2024 —PG
Willcock is a shifty guard that has tremendous handles. He also has a very quick first step, which he can use to blow by his defender en route to an easy layup. Overall, I was very impressed by the play of Willcock
Sam Ngando — Minnesota Magic 2024 — SF
Ngando is an athletic specimen that can cause a lot of problems for a defense when he gets into the paint. The 6-foot- 3 forward is able to slash to the rim effectively and then use his size and bounce to finish over taller defenders at the rim. If he continues to round out his game, the forward has the potential to become a top prospect.
Theodore Schofield — Wisconsin Academy 2024 — F
Schofield Is a prospect that uses his physical gifts to dominate on the basketball court. The Wisconsin Academy power forward was very impressive on the opening night of the Midwest Showdown. In the paint, he is strong enough to finish through contact with relative ease. On the perimeter, the lefty has a sweet stroke that other teams have to respect.
AJ Howze — Minnesota Magic 2024 — G
Howze Is a fun prospect to watch. On Friday, he made the most out of his opportunity, as he really caught my eye. The Minnesota Magic guard is a tremendous athlete that has a polished scoring game. When attacking the rim downhill, Howze is a problem that opposing teams are going to have a really hard time figuring out.
