Missouri Flight outshoots Victory Ministry
The morning action started out with a border battle between Missouri Flight and Victory Ministry. Both teams feature players from Missouri while Victory Ministry also has some good players from Kansas. The one that stood out for Victory Ministry was 6’2″ 2024 guard Mason English, a physical big-bodied guard who gets buckets. He averaged well over 20 points during the weekend. He gets to his spots all of the time and he can finish at a variety of angles. Guard Collier Hendricks is a 5’8 lefty who connected on a couple of long-range 3-pointers.
For Missouri Flight, 6’0″ 2024 Jordan Douglas (Republic) was one of the top perimeter shooters that I watched during the weekend. He moves without the basketball and he has a quick release to get his shots off. He doesn’t need much time or space and his range is deep. Point guard Anthony Nunda (Parkview) displayed some nice speed and quickness in the open court and 6’5″ Payton Norris has good size and a big body inside.
Kansas 94×50 Elite vs. SSA Hoops Elite
This was a nip and tuck game all the way down to the end with Kansas 94×50 Elite taking a 64-63 victory. The guards for 94×50 Elite were very impressive. Isaiah Lyons is a 5’8″ combo guard who could light it up from 3-point range. He has good quickness to beat defenders off the dribble, but he was at his best when he was hitting 3-pointers off the catch. Jalen Freeman is a 5’9″ point guard who could penetrate and set up teammates for easy opportunities, or get the bucket himself. Tyson Baumgadner is 6’2″ 2025 with a lot of potential. He has good length to go along with his height and a good skill set to go along with it. He looked very good for playing a year up.
Keeping SSA Hoops Elite in the game was 5’9″ guard Griffin Heger, who scored a game-high 23 points. He is an impressive 3-point shooter who handled the ball with a lot of poise. He hit a lot of big shots in this back and forth affair.
TBB KS 2024 edges Team Buddy Buckets Oklahoma in thriller
Another down to the wire affair came during the afternoon when TBB KS 2024 edged Team Buddy Buckets 46-45 in a last-second thriller. TBB KS scored the last seven points of the game, including a 3-pointer by 6’3″ wing Nate Thengvall to win it in the closing seconds. Thengvall was one of the most impressive 3-point shooters in the division while 6’2″ Jeron Askren got his buckets on some tough takes in the lane which wound up in layups and attempts at the free throw line. Michael Kates is a 5’10 point guard who keeps things steady and organized, but was able to get a bucket when his team needed one.
For Team Buddy Buckets, 6’0″ point guard Jesse Ledbetter is a machine when it comes to getting into the lane and finishing at the rim. Everyone knows he’s going downhill and he does it anyway with a twisting layup with either hand for the finish. 6’5″ forward Cole Clipson is a solid inside player who showed the ability to score with either hand inside. Trey Tuck is a solidly built 6’0″ guard who could attack the basket or hit the pull up jumper.
