D1 Minnesota 3SSB won 68-61, having to rally from six down in the final three minutes to get the win.
Despite the loss, Team Thad received solid production from three players on the roster.
2023
Javar Daniel Javar Daniel 6'8" | PF Bartlett | 2023 State TN : Daniel played well enough for Team Thad to get the win. He was active on both ends of the floor, blocking shots at the rim and contesting a lot of shots at the rim. Offensively, Daniel was getting great position on the block, knocking down short hook shots. On one possession, the 6-foot-10 post player dropped in a one-legged 15-foot jumper in his defender’s face. Daniel had it going, finishing with 16 points.
Andre Watson Andre Watson 5'9" | PG Southwind | 2023 State TN : Watson provided solid minutes off the bench. His two late 3s in the second half gave Team Thad a six-point lead. He finished with 10 points. As a 5-9 point guard, Watson is a fierce competitor, has the ability to make shots, whether they’re mid-range or 3-point attempts. He can be scrappy on the defensive end. Watson is working his way back from a wrist injury he suffered at the beginning of his sophomore season at Arlington High School. If Watson can stay healthy for the remainder of the summer plus his junior season, he’s going to be a spark on the floor.
2022
Kristian Spencer Kristian Spencer 6'2" | SG Whitehaven | 2022 State TN : Spencer does a lot of the small things. His 12 points against D1 Minnesota came within the flow of the offense. Spencer is a hard-nosed guard that’s going to play defense, attack the rim and go after 50-50 balls. Spencer has sneaky hands. He always seems to get his hands on the basketball at pivotal moments of a game.
2024
Murray Norman didn’t play on Monday, but he’s a kid to watch for in the 2024 class. In the Life Changers 15U 84-72 loss to Team Thad 15U on Saturday, Norman rose to the occasion and knocked down shots from 3-point range. Norman was getting putback layups and 50-50 balls. The 6-1 guard plays with a lot of energy and is really unselfish. Norman has the makings of being a solid prospect in 2024.
