Dozens of teams showed up to compete in the tournament, and I was able to see a bunch of them in action at the Game On Sports Complex. I will be highlighting standout prospects from this past weekend throughout the week.
Here are some of the best three-point shooters from the 16U and 17U divisions:
Corey Dolliole | 2023 | 5’9’’ Combo Guard | Dallas Showtyme 2023 West | Mansfield Timberview HS – Dolliole’s consistency and volume from behind the arc was exceptional. He buried threes off the bounce and was particularly efficient in catch-and-shoot scenarios. The Timberview guard did a really good job of getting his shots off in rhythm this weekend.
Darel Reece | 2022 | 6’1’’ Shooting Guard | Texas Takeover 2022 Elite Greg | College Park HS – Reece was fantastic from deep in his Sunday morning contest, knocking down four threes from a variety of spots. The lefty two-guard showed that he is a knock-down shooter when spotting up, but also made an impressive-looking step-back triple when isolated. His release is high, and he really gets his legs into his jump shots.
Caden Rizo Caden Rizo 6'1" | SF San Antonio Johnson | 2023 TX | 2023 | 6’1’’ Shooting Guard | Nike ProSkills San Antonio 2023 Black | Johnson HS – Rizo was an excellent shooter from the outside on Saturday. That said, it was his off-ball movement and ability to get open that stood out the most. He constantly freed himself up for good looks and was always ready to fire when the ball found him. Additionally, the 2023 prospect utilized pass and shot fakes to afford himself even more space from deep.
Matthew Cooper | 2022 | 5’9’’ Combo Guard | Nike ProSkills Antonio 2022 | San Angelo Central HS – Cooper is another guy who is ready to let it go from distance whenever he gets a touch on the perimeter. The Central combo guard was great at getting himself squared up while hunting for high-percentage looks from three-point land. His ability to shoot from NBA range was noteworthy as well.
Tyler Holmes Tyler Holmes 6'0" | SF Tuttle | 2023 OK | 2023 | 6’0’’ Shooting Guard | Oklahoma Swarm Elite 2023 | Tuttle HS – Holmes operated as a catch-and-shoot specialist for the Swarm this weekend. He had an incredibly productive stretch in one of his Saturday games, making three triples, capped off by a 4-point play that he converted at the foul line. The 2023 guard thrived from the corners.
