Linfield has made a real effort to recruit in-state and this year is no different. Coming to McMinnville from this year’s senior class of 2021 are Trey Bryant Trey Bryant 6'0" | CG Springfield | 2021 State OR and Cayden Lowenbach Cayden Lowenbach 6'6" | PF Crook County | 2021 State OR . Head coach Shanan Rosenberg and his staff are excited about bringing the versatility that both players bring to the table and we recently caught up with each to talk about their commitments to the Wildcats.
Bryant, who is at Springfield, is a 6-0, 160-pound combo guard who is a versatile scorer who can knock down open shots but also create off the dribble. After starting his high school career at Thurston, he was a solid threat for the Millers last season averaging 14.9 points and 5.1 rebounds. Linfield actually found out about Bryant through one of his long-time opponents in Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'3" | CG Willamette | 2021 State OR . The connection was made and the relationship developed, which was a key factor in Bryant’s decision.
“I really love Coach Rose (Rosenberg) – he’s an all-around solid dude and coach,” Bryant said. “I made a visit there and I love the campus. I had a couple of other looks but I felt that Linfield was a good start for me.”
Also going to the Wildcats is Lowenbach from Crook County. At 6-foot-6, 205-pounds he’s a versatile player with size on both ends of the floor as he can do a little bit of everything. He shoots it pretty well for his size, is a good passer, and can make an impact with his rebounding and shot-blocking ability. Lowenbach was proactive with his recruitment and he’s happy about the connection he made with Rosenberg and his staff.
“I had sent a lot of letters to a bunch of schools all over the Northwest and Linfield was one of the ones that got back to me,” Lowenbach said. “I watched them play this season and they play a really good style of basketball. It’s one of the best schools on the West Coast academically and after talking with the coaches and some of the players, it just seemed like the right place for me.”
Bryant ranks as the #30 player and Lowenbach the #65 player in the updated PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
