Continue ReadingThe KC Classic year in and year out is always one of the premier events of the spring circuit. This year had a ton of talent in the 2024 age group as well, and today we will highlight some of the forwards I was able to catch throughout the weekend.
Bryce Beisner, 6’4, SSA Elite 2024 Black: The lanky forward from Beloit is a player that has really benefitted from playing against the premier matchups the grassroots season provides. His footwork, comfortability, and patience in the post has grown in each tournament and he already possesses a soft touch with either hand. Beisner is a really solid sealer in the post and can pin defenders deep. He put together a solid spring closing tournament and is an underrated post defender and shot blocker.
Ethan Lathan, 6’7, MoKan EYBL: Upside for the MoKan EYBL big man is through the roof. He already has elite size and length, but you could see flashes of the tools in the 2 games I was able to check out of his. Lathan can play block to block and catch lobs off drives and dunk the ball, he showed instances of knocking down trailer three balls, and is active in the painted area on both ends of the floor. He will be a big time name to know. Lathan could be lethal (and showed ability already) to be big time in the high pick and roll game.
Braden Kracht, 6’2, 816 Hoops Harbison: Kracht has the chance to be a really solid stretch 4/wing player and had a really solid outing in the game I watched, in which he finished with 11 in the ball game. Knocked down some in rhythm threes, screened well off the ball, and had a couple of really nice clear out box outs that helped lead to rebound in transition opportunities. Was just a really solid player all around.
Corbin Allen, 6’1, Team Yobo: Allen was aggressive attacking the rim both with and without the ball. In the action I saw he was facing a 2-3 zone and he was deadly in the high post and short baseline areas. He was able to catch in those two areas of the floor, face up, and get to the rim. Allen also rebounded on the offensive end and was able to get finishes up or to the foul line off them.
Javar Galbreath Javar Galbreath 6'5" | PF Father Tolton | 2024 State MO , 6’5, Michael Porter Jr Elite: Galbreath is a big time center prospect for MPJ elite. Big bodied, athletic, plugs gaps, and protects the painted area at a high level. Can get moving in transition rim running, and uses his body well to give passers or drivers clear angles to get him the ball. Pretty efficient finisher in the paint. Galbreath has next level footwork off the catch or off rebounds to pivot and get himself scoring opportunites.
