This year was no different with a humongous talent pool, amazing atmosphere inside the arena, and teams battling it out from across the country. 2023 Guard Notes
- Oz Elite Haynes guards Garrett Robertson Garrett Robertson 5'10" | PG Hutchinson | 2023 State KS and BJ Redic BJ Redic 6'2" | SF Andover | 2023 State KS compliment each other well: In a game against 816 Hoops, these two really set the tone and played instrumental roles in the ball game. Redic did a great job out in transition and in the half court of getting to the rim and putting pressure on the defense. Robertson complimented this with tremendous 3 point shooting both off of catch and shoots and off the dribble in transition. Robertson had 14 in the game and Redic had 15. Both guards do a great job flying around the perimeter on defense as well.
- Camden Bennett Camden Bennett 6'3" | SG St. Joe Lafayette | 2023 State MO of 816 Hoops Cherepkai gets it done in a variety of ways: The talented guard had 17 points in a loss to Oz Elite, and showed that he can score the ball in a variety of ways. He shot the 3 pretty solid and had moments of slashing agains the zone that Oz Elite played and was able to get to his spots against man as well. Bennett has an enormous ceiling. He has a great physical build for a future college guard and has the change of speed, burst, shooting, and ball handling ability to play a variety of back court spots
- SSA Elite 16U Black can hit you from a variety of ways in the back court: The back court has capable offensive output across the board and in their 3-1 weekend it really showed. Leading scorers in different ball games featuring Wyatt Conklin Wyatt Conklin 6'2" | SF Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS and Ryle Riddlesperger Ryle Riddlesperger 6'2" | PG Hugoton | 2023 State KS scoring 13 and 12 respectively in game 1. Point Guard Makaen Hastings Makaen Hastings 5'11" | PG Salina South | 2023 KS had a solid weekend with a 7 point and 8 asisst game followed with a 10 point outing. Jace Steinmetz Jace Steinmetz 6'3" | SG Garden City High Scool | 2023 KS the 6’4 Garden City Guard and 6’1 guard Parker Leeds of Emporia had 16 points and 13 points in the same game as well. Jack Lauer of Marysville can also add a physical punch from the guard spot with some 3 point shooting
- Jack Bachelor Jack Bachelor 6'0" | CG Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS has the full repertoire (Pictured): The 6’2 Guard from Washburn Rural currently running with Marcus Denmon Elite dropped 17 in a game against Woodz Elite EYBL and had multiple steals and dump down assists in the ball game. He moved extremely well without the ball and had countless little tear drops or mid range runners just simply off moving without the ball. Bachelor also has tremendous vision on drives and makes great reads off the bounce.
- Kyan Evans Kyan Evans 6'2" | PG Staley | 2023 State MO fills a role nicely for MoKan EYBL: The big time guard out of Staley has found a perfect home in the MoKan EYBL backcourt. He is a guard that can defend at a high level, gets into the gaps off penetration, and finds open teammates for great shots. Him spearheading the point of attack on defense, he gives them a ton of activity and length, forcing a ton of tough passes. Had his best scoring output against Team CP3 with 9, but he does a ton more on the court then just that.
