These young men have all shown some potential to be solid players and will be ones to keep an eye on for the future.
2-6 Aggies Sophomore Guard Jakoi Hessel was the offense for his team early on, while it seemed that the rest of the squad struggled somewhat to get going. He can knock down some shots from outside, get into the paint for buckets and played pretty well through contact.
1 Goal Sophomore Guard Mckiyah Tarver was one of the better defenders at the guard spot throughout the afternoon. He has solid lateral quickness, doesn’t try to reach for steals too often and has the potential to be a solid player for his high school team next year.
Team Pressure 910 Sophomore Center Joseph Amador was one of the taller players that we got the chance to see and he used his height to his advantage to score in the paint at a high level. He still has a ways to go but it’s always a positive to see a youngster making steps in the right direction with his progression.
2-6 Aggies Sophomore Forward Javian Grant Javian Grant 6'6" | SF New Life Christian | 2023 State NC has improved very well over the last few years, and although he still has plenty of room to improve, we liked what we saw from him on Saturday. He ran the floor fairly well, rebounded at a decent rate, contested shots and finished inside the paint. Adding some weight/muscle to his frame and not settling too often for outside shots are the next steps for him.
Team Pressure 910 Sophomore Guard Kevin Lalim was impressive throughout, scoring the ball in bunches by using his strength and a quick first step to get where he wants. Often times we don’t see many youngsters with the ability to score the ball effectively from midrange but Kevin was automatic from midrange and didn’t settle for outside shots.
2-6 Aggies Sophomore Guard Randy Dockery Randy Dockery 6'2" | CG Seventy-First | 2023 State NC got off to a slower start but seemed to get better as time went on. He plays with a high motor, slashes to the basket for buckets offensively and doesn’t mind mixing it up inside to battle for rebounds.
