There was a good contingent of teams from New Mexico, and Colorado. Here’s a group of players that made the Wrights Watch List in the 16U Division.
Ryan Ginsberg Ryan Ginsberg 6'1" | PG Desert Mountain | 2023 State AZ 6’2 PG of Desert Mountain HS, 2023. Arizona Dream 2022. He was a standout of 2023 players playing up in the top division. It was no big difference, Ginsberg is a productive point guard. He’s a steady handler that shows good patience in half court sets, he had his floater working for him on the drive into the lane, as well as finishing strong with the left. He always has himself positioned well on defense to help, or jump a pass. He rarely turns it over, makes good decisions passing, and has good post entry passes as well. He can hit the outside shot.
Carter Gittens Carter Gittens 6'5" | SF Sunrise Mountain | 2023 State AZ 6’5 W/F of Sunrise Mountain 2023, Arizona Factory 2023. All the scouts in attendance will have Gittens on their list of top players in this age group. He played consistent basketball no matter who was watching. He’s a solid body, squared shouldered player that did his work, rebounding, going up strong in the paint, running the court, defending, and showed he could shoot the jumper. A solid prospect in this class. He was a Wrights Day 1 Standout. He was productive on both days at this event.
Corbin Garver Corbin Garver 6'3" | CG Air Academy | 2023 State CO 6’4 G/W/F of P.L.U.T.O Prospects 2023. This team was fun to watch. They put up a spirited battle against a good Arizona Select 2023 Team. Garver was right in the mix. He was active in this game, taking it strong to the basket, running the court hard in transition. He had a couple of nice backdoor passes to teammates for crucial buckets. At 6’4 he hit the offensive boards to keep the ball live and give his team a chance at buckets.
AJ Turner AJ Turner 5'11" | PG Skyline Prep | 2023 State AZ 6’0 Guard of Uptempo Elite 2023. Turner could get up the court as fast as any guard with the ball in his possession. He’s a quick guard who could be a combo right now because of his score first mentality, it don’t matter he was hard to guard in the open court. His burst to the basket in the half court was equally effective. His handles and quickness will get him buckets. He’ll hit 3’s on the transition pull up. He has the speed, and quickness to be a top notch defender if he put more focus on it.
DeMarco Duncan DeMarco Duncan 6'10" | C Rangeview | 2023 State CO 6’7 F/C of Rangeview HS (CO) Revup Allstars 2023. He’s an interesting player with good size and movement. He’s on the thin side, will need to bulk up a bit. He can hit the jumper inside the paint. His high post activity was good, he found open teammates in the corner, wings, and cutters going towards the basket. He seems a bit raw right now, but he’ll rebound, and has a nice touch in the paint. He’s on the Wrights Watch List.
Matthew Henry-Harrison Matthew Henry-Harrison 5'10" | CG AZ Compass Prep Black | 2023 State AZ 5’11 Guard of Paradise Honors HS. Arizona Factory 2023. He’s as tough as they come, he’s a strong, beefy guard who could bully his way to the basket, not out of control but with balance, absorb any contact and finish the and one. He’s a player who could score from the 3, and on pull up jumpers, but he also did a quality job of facilitating when called upon.
