Continue ReadingThe Prep Hoops Circuit returned to the Valley of the Sun this weekend for the Hustle In The Sun. The event which featured 65 teams ranging from 15U to 17U took place at Inspire Courts in Gilbert Arizona. Several players used the platform as a wake-up call to coaches, opponents, and scouts. In this article, we take a look at the top Stockrisers from the Hustle In The Sun.
William Benjamin Jr 6’0 CG ABC 2022 (#4PHNM 2022) – “Deuce” as he’s known displayed elite-level speed and quickness. Listed at only 6’0 Benjamin has an elite set of skills that allows him to be effective at both backcourt spots. His blow-by and athletic ability allow him to get into the paint and finish, and his quick hands and speed made him a pest in the passing lanes.
Malik Payton Malik Payton 6'1" | SG Florence | 2021 State AZ 6’1 PG Team RHJ 2022 (#37PHA 2022) – Was one of the smoothest scorers at the event. Shot it well from behind the arc, and displayed another gear when finishing in transition.
Jaxon Lloyd 6’7 PF Team ESBY 2021 – I get it, it’s difficult to have 2021’s on a stockriser list, however, Lloyd is a unique case. Saw limited action on a loaded high school squad, he has some skills. Showed the ability to facilitate from the high post, turned and faced for buckets, and rebounded his position. With a 3.9 GPA, he could be a good fit for a high academic program looking to add last-minute frontcourt depth.
Raydon Thorson Raydon Thorson 5'11" | PG Phhoenix Prep | 2023 State AZ 6’1 AZ Junior Battle 2022 (#) – The ultimate all Gym Rat guy, Thorson literally coached one of the younger JB squads to a victory. On the court, he’s the consummate floor general with excellent vision and the ability to make players around him better.
Matthew Henry Harrison 5’11 CG 2023 (#49PHA 2023) – I’ve gotten to see Factory play quite a bit over the last few weeks, and this guy consistently produces. He has a powerful frame that he used to split traps and punish defenders. He’s also willing to mix it up down low, grabbing tough boards and scoring on offensive putbacks.
Exodus Ayers Exodus Ayers 6'2" | CG La Cueva | 2023 NLG 6’2 PG ABC 2023 (#3PHNM 2023) – Ayers has a shot at making my all wired to score team this year. He made it look easy at times, getting paint touches off the bounce, and pulling up from midrange. An electric scorer with insane confidence, Ayers is capable of getting hot and quickly changing the scoreboard.
