Bennie Slater Bennie Slater 6'5" | SF Springfield | 2021 State IL (Illini Magic)
Slater was outstanding for the Illini Magic. The top 30 Illinois 2021 prospect is an elite level JUCO prospect. At 6’6” he is a point forward with his high level vision and feel for making plays on the move. Really understands how to get others involved with his passing. High level athlete that crashes the offensive glass, explodes at the rim for finishes, and is a muli positional defender. Solid mid-range shooter. Bit of a hitch at the top of his shot. If that can be cleared up it is over!
Grant Newell Grant Newell 6'7" | PF Whitney Young | 2021 State IL (Mac Irvin Fire)
Excellent weekend for Newell. The Whitney Young power forward was the best we have seen him in the last six months. Played with a high-motor on both ends. Crashed the glass and was a force rim running for lobs. Had a couple quick finishes in the paint as well. If he plays like he did over the weekend he is worthy of a low-major scholarship.
Justin Banks (Team NLP)
Banks jumped off the floor to us for Team NLP. The power forward from Schaumburg plays at Oak Hill Academy. Strong kid that has mobility and skill. Came off the bench to connect on a pair of threes and scored through contact at the rim. Hit the glass in his area. Could definitely see a D2 taking a shot at him.
Isiah Fitch (Illini Magic)
Home schooled 6’6” power forward that has bounce around the hoop. Ran the court and was quick off the floor to the offensive glass. Good defender around the hoop and can switch. Nice JUCO prospect.
Troy Glover Troy Glover 6'7" | PF Glenbard West | 2021 State IL (Y&R/KL Power 5)
Glenbard West long and rangy four man. Major dive threat and catching lobs. Still has considerable upside as a prep option or JUCO candidate.
Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson 6'2" | SF Depaul Prep | 2021 State IL (Next Generation)
Johnson is a long and rangy shooting guard that has a feathery three point shot. Hit it off the catch, set it up with jab steps, and stepped into hit a few from 15-18 feet. Nice JUCO prospect.
Landon Johnston (Sport-Prep Nothing But Athletes Inc)
Johnston went for 21 points in the game we saw. The crafty wing from Indiana was a three level scorer that hit from three and got to the cup for several strong drives. Has some projectability still with his frame.
