Another Great HIT 8 AM Game
Yesterday HIT played a classic game at the 17U level at 8 AM and their 15U took one to the wire on Sunday against All Area Basketball Gold. For the Illinois squad they were led by Brendan Molis with 21 points. He is the next standout guard from York. At 6’3” the combo guard has nice size and a lethal three point shot. Hit several with a quick release. Gritty on the glass and had some layups/runners. Active defender that contests shots with length. In the backcourt he was joined by his high school teammate AJ Levine. The 5’10” rising sophomore is a sharp shooter that pushes in the open floor. Immaculate Conception lead guard Matt Karsten is a drive and kick threat that handles it well. Up front 6’4” combo forward Allen Tate Allen Tate 6'5" | PF Downers Grove North | 2024 IL has broad shoulders and an athletic build. Scored well in the paint putting it on the deck with aggressive moves and hitting from mid-range. For All Area Basketball Gold Mason Harvey was the standout. Post with length and size at 6’6”. Stretched it out to three on multiple occasions and ran the floor very well for several buckets.
Pair of Wings to Track on Swish Chicago
Swish was without their star, but they had a couple of other perimeter players that will be ones to track in the next few years. Simeon 6’3” shooting guard Richard Lindsey is a thick bodied shooting guard that scored on the straight line takes, rebounded, and was a versatile scorer. Tavariyaun Williams is a 6’4” small forward from De La Salle that was a bit up and down, but showed promise with his high skill level on several slick takes off the bounce. One possession he stole it, pushed, and dropped off a dime.
Incoming Team Teague Freshman Has High-Major Upside
Jalen Haralson from Team Teague 2025 playing up on the 15U level jumped off the floor as a potential high major prospect. Long and lanky three man with legit size and a frame to continue to grow height wise along with adding strength. Plus athlete threw down several dunks including a nice alley-oop. Snatched rebounds in traffic. Had a feathery touch from deep with a pair of threes along with a turnaround jumper in the lane. One of the more impressive prospects we saw on the day.
Wings Battle in Jets vs INB 15U Clash
A pair of wings went at it in this 15U matchup. For the Southwest Jets it was Metro East Lutheran 6’1” shooting guard Jeremiah Neal who netted 23 points. Strong bodied wing that is physically developed. Consistently got downhill for scores at the cup in transition and off the bounce. INB wing Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN continues to impress this spring as one of the stock risers from Indiana in 2024. Long and rangy shooting guard that plays taller than his height with his insane length. Wiry wing is slithery getting through the defense with his handles getting to the paint for scores and makes regular trips to the line. Also flashed range on his shot. He had 25 points in this one and followed up with 30+ in a later game.
Team Ten Jabari Parker 15U Prospects Show Promise
I got an extensive look at Team Ten Jabari Parker on Sunday catching both of their games. Curie 2024 power forward Taevion Collier Taevion Collier 6'6" | PF Curie | 2024 State IL is starting to come into his own. Known as Cliff Alexander’s younger brother he is going to start getting recognition for his play and ability as a prospect. The 6’5” broad shouldered four man has a strong and athletic build. Snatches rebounds in traffic. Got put backs on the offensive glass. Showed some skill with hook shots and sealing on the block. Leo 2024 long and rangy combo guard Christian Brocket has some projection as a two way player that can shoot it. Payton Kamin Payton Kamin 6'7" | SF Worcester Academy | 2025 State NLG showed flashes of the upside he has. The DePaul Prep wing is a legit 6’4” with long arms, good athleticism, and a plus shot. More than just a shooter however as he scored in transition and got in the lane for runners. St. Ignatius point guard Reggie Ray is definitely one to monitor. Bowling ball of a guard that wins off the bounce and is acrobatic in the lane finishing.
Indy Premier Team Rock Wins on Buzzer Beater Behind Illinois Backcourt
In their game against Team Ten it went down to the wire where Mattew King ended things with a corner three as the buzzer went off. Their backcourt leads the way on this team. St. Rita floor general Jaedin Reyna Jaedin Reyna 6'0" | PG Bishop Noll | 2024 State IN has done every thing to earn the pole position as the top point guard in the 2024 class in Illinois. Silky smooth guard with elite feel and passing instincts. Can also score when needed with creativity. Hillcrest 6’0” combo guard Isaiah Green is growing on us each time we see him. The rising sophomore dropped 18 points including several slick slashes and an array of pull up jumpers.
Mac Irvin Fire 15U are Deep with High Level Prospects Including Superstar
The Fire are absolutely loaded with talent at the 15U level. It all starts with their superstar 6’9” St. Rita center James Brown James Brown 6'9" | C Link Academy (from Chicago) | 2024 #66 Nation MO . Some of the moves he made on Sunday are flat out unfair for a 15 year old. Such advanced footwork in the post, runs the floor so well, and can hit baseline jumpers. Mobility on the defensive end as a switchable defender and shot blocker are off the charts. Top 10 national recruit type look early on! Kenwood small forward Christopher Riddle has a lot of intriguing tools as well. Big and strong 6’5” small forward that has a grown man’s body with skill to match. Explosive finisher with range on his shot and passing flair. Jaden Smith Jaden Smith 6'10" | C Kenwood | 2024 State IL is a 6’10” post from Lincoln Park and in our first time seeing him in person we can see what there is to like here. Very projectable post that runs the floor well, gets on the boards, and has mobility. Raw offensively, but has so much upside! OPRF point guard Max Johnson Max Johnson 5'10" | PG Oak Park River Forest | 2024 State IL stands at 5’10” with excellent vision and feel for dishing the rock. Kenwood 6’4” small forward Calvin Robbins popped with his high level athleticism and quick bounce in traffic for dunks. Rangy defender as well. Benet 6’5” small forward Parker Sulaver is a big wing with toughness that can shoot it off the catch and rebounds well. Nyzir Duncan from Hillcrest is a thick bodied shooting guard that always seemed to be around the ball.
Under the Radar M14 Duo
Wheaton North 2024 5’10” point guard Hudson Parker ran the show for M14 with his flashy passing, crafty finishes, and was a capable shooter from three. Also were intrigued by Neuqua Valley 6’4” power forward Nate Fiore. Undersized four plays taller with his length. Good shot blocker and versatile scorer.
Future Centralia Backcourt?
Close friends have told me about Dierre Hill as a middle school multi-sport star. We got our first look at him on the hardwood on Sunday. The 6’1” lefty with strength brings plus athleticism along passing flair to the table. As a scorer he was best putting it on the deck. His backcourt mate Trey Williams was lights out from three draining three after three including five in the half we saw. Mixed in some drives off the bounce as well. They were both listed as going to play for the all-time winningest program in the country Centralia. With incoming freshman you never know until they enroll. Another interesting prospect on this squad was Alex Steel. The 6’5” rising freshman at O’Fallon has nice size and strength along with feel in the paint and rebounded in his area.
Names to Monitor for Rush Academy
Jaeden Rush Jaeden Rush 6'0" | PG O'Fallon | 2024 State IL from O’Fallon led the way. Skilled point guard with some projectability. Quick release on his three point shot. We came away impressed with his burst off the bounce including one move where he won off the bounce, went through multiple defenders, and put it on the other side. One of the better 2024 point guards in the 618. Collinsville 6’0” shooting guard Jamorie Wysinger is another to monitor on Rush Academy. Plus athlete loves to get out in transition with his long strides and can hit a three on occasion.
