Tons of talent was on the floor this past weekend and there were numerous players who continued their stellar play, showcased new abilities and also have started to emerge in the younger classes. Here are some of the takeaways from Indiana prospects from the weekend.
Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA continues hot summer
There has been nobody like Walker in the early parts of the grassroots season. The Team Teague guard has put on monster performances at every event he has played in. This weekend was no different. It was probably one of his better all-around weekends in terms of making plays for teammates, finishing at the rim, hitting jumpers and getting after it defensively. He is among the toughest guards to defend when he is going at the rim. He made multiple plays in traffic for himself and teammates and was unguardable at times with his quickness.
Ryan Conwell Ryan Conwell 6'2" | SG Pike | 2022 State #155 Nation IN ’s steady play
Conwell has been one of the more exciting players I have seen this spring and summer. He continues to produce well-rounded outings and that was no different over the weekend. The lefty guard seems to draw two defenders now whenever he touches the ball and yet, he still makes plays look easy. He had multiple terrific passes and his vision showed this weekend. He still has the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter and he continues to use his toughness to get in the lane. Overall, he continues to be a steady force at the lead guard position.
Landen Babusiak Landen Babusiak 6'11" | C Bosco Institute/Indiana Connections Academy | 2022 State IN shows off post ability
It was my first time catching Babusiak this grassroots season and he made his presence known for Indiana Game. He loves to dunk the ball as much as he can at the rim, using his plus athleticism to his advantage. At 6-foot-9, he has a good frame, albeit a bit on the lankier side, but makes up for any size disadvantage with his aggressiveness. He knows how to use his body in and around the paint and has a good set of skills to go along with his aggressive mindset.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN emerges as 2024 prospect
What more to say about Lomax other than he is a scorer. Lomax had some of the top performances all weekend, with scoring outputs of 35 points and multiple 20+ outings. The combo guard is a terrific athlete who is extremely long. His length makes him look much taller than he actually is. He was best getting into the lane and using his length to finish above defenders or getting to the foul line where he was effective. His jumper is still developing and can be more consistent, but he showed the ability to knock down 3’s throughout the weekend.
Jalen Haralson flashes potential
It was the second tournament this summer seeing Haralson and he showed, again, what type of player he can become. The Team Teague 2025 prospect played up with the 15U’s again and looked extremely comfortable in almost every setting he was in. His athleticism is what makes him extremely difficult to defend at this age and he knows how to use it to his advantage. Knowing he could score coming into this weekend, he was impressive with his ability to rebound the ball and hit a few outside shots as well.
