There are bigs making a difference at all levels and from all classes. Let’s take a look at few post players from around the state that are having strong grassroots seasons so far.
Kareem Abursashed (2022, PF, Bates Fundamentals 17u Red, Detroit Country Day)
Aburashed has a really nice skill set combined with upper level athleticism. He’s mobile around the rim and bouncy under the bucket. Aburashed is an athletic finisher as well.
Cooper Craggs Cooper Craggs 6'7" | PF Novi Catholic Central | 2022 State MI (2022, PF, The Family EYBL, Detroit Catholic Central)
I’ve always been high on Craggs’ game and this spring has confirmed my beliefs. He’s a versatile player that can battle down low, but continues to show that he can have an influence all over the floor.
Ayden Davis (2024, C, The Family, Onsted)
Davis is a banger in the paint at heart, but he’s shown that there can be more to his game than that. He has nice touch from mid range and could really develop into a dominant center.
Haidyn Garrison (2022, C, MBA National, Gull Lake)
Garrison has had a really nice spring so far and I’m looking forward to watching him continue to develop. He can physically dominate the paint with his size and strength.
Keithan Gilmore (2024, F, The Family, Brother Rice)
Gilmore is different from the rest of the list. He battles on the glass and has a nose for the ball off the rim. He also has shown a developing perimeter game that takes his game to an entirely different level.
Jalen Overway Jalen Overway 6'8" | PF Holland Christian | 2022 State MI (2022, F/C, MBA Lakeshore, Holland Christian)
Overway is another banger in the paint that has the the strength and physicality to control the paint. He gets high percentage looks at the rim and finishes them consistency.
Andrew Sniesak Andrew Sniesak 6'4" | PF Armada | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Michigan Cagers 2023, Armada)
Sniesak may only be 6-4, but he plays so much bigger. He’s a flat out warrior when he steps on the basketball court. Sniesak will help win games for the Michigan Cagers with effort and intensity alone. Small college coaches, this could be a young man that you want to take a serious look at.
