This group is known as Basketball Stars of America and has been the longest-tenured AAU program in the area. A few of their teams attended the tournament with some players performing extremely well all weekend. Here are the standouts from the three-day event…
BSA Select:
- Matt McDonough, 6’1 combo guard
- North Allegheny High School
- Class of 2022
Matt has a high basketball IQ, is a terrific teammate, and is a proven leader on the court. His perimeter shot is deadly coming off a screen, which makes him basically automatic. He can handle the ball extremely well and looks to facilitate to his teammates. As Matt continues with top performances this spring and summer more college interest will step to the forefront.
- Myron Moore, 6’4 forward
- McKeesport High School
- Class of 2022
Myron is an athletic forward that has the jumping ability to play above the rim. He runs the floor at an above-average rate and can finish with either hand at the basket. Also, this talented player is a consummate team guy, always wanting to make the best play for his team. Myron works hard to improve his game to take it to the next level.
- Kolin Dinkins, 6’2 guard/forward
- North Allegheny High School
- Class of 2022
Kolin has the ability to create opportunities for his teammates whether in the half-court set or in the transition game. He plays quality defense and will get after it on the boards. As the AAU season progresses he will be one to watch in big games. Kolin is a coachable kid that welcomes feedback to be successful.
- Jared Black, 6’0 point guard
- North Allegheny High School
- Class of 2022
Jared brings the hustle and tenacity each and every time he steps on the court. His quickness off the dribble and skilled passing make him a threat on the perimeter. He is able to knock down the long-distance jumper, while still having the ability to penetrate the lane. Jared is a player you want on your team knowing the effort will always be full throttle every night.
- Damon Astorino Damon Astorino 6'2" | CG Eden Christian Academy | 2023 State PA , 6’2 combo guard
- Ambridge High School
- Class of 2023
Damon is a well-rounded basketball player with exceptional knowledge of the game. His ability to drive to the basket gives him the opportunity to get to the line where he is an excellent free throw shooter. Despite being only 6’2, he rebounds well on both the defense and offense glass. Damon is another coach on the floor and looks to always help his teammates be in the correct spots.
- Kam Greil, 5’9 point guard
- Fox Chapel High School
- Class of 2023
Kam is a fiery, high motor guard that never seems to slow down during a contest. The energy level he brings carries over to his team and motivates them to follow his lead. His ability to be a playmaker opens up opportunities in the paint for his big guys. What Kam lacks in height is definitely made up with heart.
- Terrell Wafford, 6’2 forward
- Westinghouse High School
- Class of 2024
Terrell is very athletic and can cause havoc on the defensive end of the floor with his shot-blocking ability. He brings his high-flying effort every night and looks to develop a quality post-game. His mid-range jumper has been a mainstay in his arsenal. Terrell looks to get out on the break and finish at the rim.
Hopefully, as the summer begins the opportunities become possible to give these boys some attention at a tournament. They will not disappoint and their effort will definitely be there from the tip to the final buzzer.
