Kaleb Schaffer Kaleb Schaffer 6'5" | PF Bishop Ready | 2023 State OH , 6’5 PF Bishop Ready 2023 Ohio United: Schaffer was a kid I’d never seen play before this event and he absolutely dominated in the one game I caught of him. Schaffer was hitting 3-pointers, taking it to the rack, getting second chance points. It was a complete scoring performance from him and incredibly impressive to watch. I’ll need to see more than just one game to gather a full evaluation, but consider myself very intrigued with Schaffer moving forward.
Jason Inbody, 6’3 SF Olentangy Berlin 2023 Ohio United: Inbody made a 3-pointer on back-to-back-to-back possessions during Ohio United’s victory over Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 16U. Inbody showed the ability to really cash in on catch and shoot opportunities. Another player that I’ll be looking to see more of in the coming months and high school season.
Lachlan Robert MacDonald Lachlan Robert MacDonald 6'1" | SG Dublin Jerome | 2023 State OH , 6’1 SG Dublin Jerome 2023 Ohio United: I knew MacDonald could shoot the basketball at a high level, but he was beating defenders off the bounce more often than I’ve seen before from him. If MacDonald can continue to improve on his burst and dribble moves, he’s going to be a very dangerous offensive player because the shooting won’t ever be a question for him.
Luke Kuhlman Luke Kuhlman 6'4" | SF Dublin Jerome | 2023 State OH , 6’4 SF Dublin Jerome 2023 Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 16U: Kuhlman is an intriguing wing prospect who has nice size and can let it fly from distance. Kuhlman also played up with the 17U Pumas Gold team and looked capable of playing a role at that level as well. Kuhlman should really break out as a Junior for Dublin Jerome, a squad that has a lot of talent in their 2023 class, as seen with the player mentioned above as well.
Mike Steel, 6’7 C Hudson 2023 Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 16U: Steel was impressive with his right hand around the basket for the pumas. While he shoots the ball left handed, Steel seems much more confident with his right when going to a post hook or layup finish. Steel can protect the rim and rebound at his size, I expect him to be a key piece for Hudson next season after David Gentry David Gentry 6'5" | PF Hudson | 2021 State OH graduates.
