Max Roth Max Roth 6'1" | PG Findlay | 2022 State OH , 6’0 PG Findlay 2022 Ohio Buckets-Meis: Roth had a great weekend, with his highlight performance being a 26 point outing against Mid-Ohio Pumas Jackson. While I didn’t catch that game, Roth shined in other games throughout the weekend. Roth made shots from the outside and is a solid vertical athlete in transition. Roth is attracting interest from Division II programs and picked up an offer from NAIA program Rio Grande based on his play.
Carter Valentine Carter Valentine 6'5" | SF Colonel Crawford | 2022 State OH , 6’5 SF Colonel Crawford 2022 Ohio Buckets-Lash: Valentine dominated in overtime of the Gold division championship game against Mid Ohio Pumas -Jackson, scoring probably around 10 points in the final three minutes alone. Valentine can get hot in a hurry and there’s little defenses can do to slow him down when he gets going. His shot making ability is very impressive for a prospect his size. Valentine does sometimes roam on defense, I’d like to see him become more consistent on that end of the floor.
Aiden Porter Aiden Porter 6'1" | PG Fairland | 2022 State OH , 6’1 CG Fairland 2022 Mid Ohio Pumas -Price: Porter helped lead his team to three comfortable victories before running into Indiana Elite 3SSB in the semifinals of the platinum bracket. Porter is just one piece of a squad that shares the ball at an extremely high level. The quality of shots that his team takes because of their unselfishness is quite impressive. Porter runs point guard a majority of the time for this team, helping get the offense going. In their three victories, Porter was in double figures scoring in every game as well.
Trent Hundley Trent Hundley 6'5" | SF Eastern Brown | 2022 State OH , 6’5 SF Eastern Brown 2022 Mid Ohio Pumas -Price: Hundley is a MAJOR SLEEPER in the 2022 class in Ohio. A guy who’s received very little coverage outside of showcase events, Hundley can really play. The 6’5 wing forward from southeast Ohio was producing in a big way on the offensive end, getting downhill off dribble hand-offs and scoring in the paint. Hundley threw down a dunk in one of the games that I saw as well, showing off some athleticism. I think Hundley is a no doubt scholarship level prospect and should be getting a lot of interest from Division II and NAIA programs around the region. Hundley scored exactly 16 points in three games this weekend, leading his team each time.
Tegan Myers Tegan Myers 6'1" | SG Logan | 2022 State OH , 6’1 SG Logan 2022 Mid Ohio Pumas -Jackson: What I like about Myers game is that his offensive game translates to college basketball very easily. Myers runs off screens and hits shots off the catch at a high level. His pre shot preparation is high level and this allows him to get shots up at the rim before defenders can contest. Myers has flown a little under the radar because of a lack of AAU last summer and an injury during his Junior season of high school, but he’s had a nice spring so far for the Pumas.
Brandon McLaughlin Brandon McLaughlin 6'8" | C Heath | 2022 State OH , 6’8 C Heath 2022 Mid Ohio Pumas -Jackson: McLaughlin and Justin Perry Justin Perry 6'7" | PF New Albany | 2022 State OH were almost comparable throughout the weekend for the Pumas, both players having impressive flashes. I gave the nod to McLaughlin for the top performers article, but Perry was also quite impressive. With that being said, I liked how McLaughlin put the ball on the floor after rebounds and looked to push the tempo. It’s not often you see a big looking to take it himself after a defensive rebound. McLaughlin enjoyed a nice height advantage in a few of his games this weekend, scoring on the interior. Expect McLaughlin to have a big senior season on a Heath squad that should be one of the most talented teams in Division II.
