Prospects played their way onto the radar of media and colleges which is important as this is the spring/summer that colleges begin to take a closer look at them.
Team Loaded Guard Isaiah Washington Isaiah Washington 6'5" | SG Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State NC continues to showcase why he’s one of the best natural scorers in the state. He didn’t waste any time, catching fire in their first game on Saturday, finishing with a team high of 21 Points. His ability to knock down shots from multiple levels and a quick first step that helps him to blow by defenders, makes him a difficult player to contain.
Team Synergy Forward Lamontae Cousar brings a high amount of energy and activity just about every time he steps on the court. He does a nice job of working on the boards, setting hard screens and hustling to provide extra possessions for his squad. He’s one of those players that you don’t have to run any plays for, he creates his own offense due to how hard he works.
Carolina Pressure Guard Arturo Overton brings the floor general mindset for his team, looking to get all of his teammates involved before looking to get his own offense going. He understands how to use his speed and vision to take advantage of gaps that he may find in the defense to make the right play for his team but one of the more impressive attributes about him is that he brings the same effort on both ends of the floor.
Houston Defenders Forward Gary Robelledo got off to a quick start in the championship game, knocking down some shots from outside and working hard inside the paint. He plays bigger than his 6’5 height suggests, battling and defending opponents that were much taller, he understands how to use his strength and proper positioning to be productive.
Team United Forward Brandon White Brandon White 6'10" | PF Donda Academy | 2023 #146 Nation NC is one of the few traditional style post players that you will see in Grassroots basketball these days. He doesn’t mind playing inside the paint with his back to the basket and is a gifted passer from the post. With that being said, he can step outside the paint and score the ball just as well as he can score in the paint, knocking down the trey ball with nice efficiency. He was one of the most intriguing prospects throughout the event, has the size, upside and talent that top college programs love to see.
Basketpoint USA Wing Nick Elliott Nick Elliott 6'4" | SF Grimsley | 2023 State NC was efficient throughout the event, playing his role to the best of his ability, knocking down shots and providing some rebounding for his team. He doesn’t force plays and understands how to find his own offense within the flow of the team offense, which is an attribute that coaches on the next level should appreciate.
