Ben VanderWal Ben VanderWal 6'5" | SF Timothy Christian | 2022 State #201 Nation IL Breakaway 2022
Ben had another good start Sunday morning. He scored on all three levels. He really surprised me with mid-range touch in the lane. He hit a couple of shots when MN Fury guys ran him off the three point line. VanderWal stayed consistent the whole weekend battling on the boards and making sound plays if the first options were denied. Ben is a high academic D1 kid who will get many schools attention when the live period hits.
Nick Katona Minnesota Fury Wilde 2022
Katona is a high energy forward who made big plays Sunday morning. In the matchup with Breakaway he kept plays alive by crashing the offensive boards hard and taking advantage of the height difference Fury had. Nick had strong takes to the rim. A few times he used spin move in the lane for finishes. When the lanes were packed he made some mid-range and three point shots. Katona scored from all three levels and didn’t look to take plays off. He definitely is a college prospect worth recruiting.
Jamar Houston Jamar Houston 6'2" | CG Central Florida Christian Academy | 2022 State FL Judah Nation 2022
Houston is a smooth and highly skilled wing that made some plays early in the game that sparked a run for Judah Nation. Jamar made two threes from the corner with defenders in his face. Once he was label as a shooter Houston used his slick handle to get to the rim and made a crafty finishes in the lane. His biggest play came on a fast break turnover when he went up top and dunked on a defender. He had the gym buzzing and had many coaches putting a check by his name.
Jah Quinones Jah Quinones 6'4" | CG Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State FL Judah Nation 2022
Jah is a thick bodied guard who can play at any pace. Y&R threw several players at him and he handled the pressure well keeping his head up at all times dribbling out of trouble. Quinones never backed down as he made some tough shots with guys running at him. He also made several strong drives where he scored over taller defenders. His feel of the game is amazing hitting players in stride while being pressured.
Kimahri Wilson Kimahri Wilson 6'2" | PG North Chicago | 2021 State IL Y&R Brim 2021
Wilson had one of the strongest single-handed scoring runs of the weekend. In a really close game against Judah Nation he made three triples in transition to put his team up 8 in the second half. In what was a chippy back and forth game Kimahri made sure the game was over. Also down the stretch he forced three turnovers with his speed and quick hands while picking up players full court.
Amar Augillard Amar Augillard 6'5" | SF Zion Benton | 2021 State IL Y&R Brim 2021
The unsigned senior is having a strong spring and on Sunday he continued to have success. Amar played bully ball against Judah Nation. Moving guys and scoring through them as if they were not even there. Augillard imposes himself in games because he plays like a grown man amongst boys. Being able to score on all three levels makes him a hard to guard prospect. Amar made the game personal when Judah players started chirping at him as his competitiveness went up two notches. Augillard kept Y&R in the game with tough shots from deep and a few dunks in transition when teammates went cold. He finished with 28 points and a handful of rebounds in the win.
Justin Mullins Justin Mullins 6'4" | SF Oak Park-River Forest | 2022 State IL Y&R/ KL Power 5 2022
Mullins and his team jumped out to a quick lead over the Tulsa Hawks. It started with how aggressive he played the passing lanes not giving them much of a chance to run any offense. Justin is a long wing who anticipates well in the passing lanes. He gets steals and turns them into fast break dunks. In the morning game he made seven dunks in a blow out win. Also hit a pair of threes and getting to the cup a few times Justin ended up with 41 pts in the win.
