The event took place at Inspire courts, Friday, April 30th through Sunday, May 2nd, and showcased a total of 67 teams ranging from ages 15 to 17U. The event also showcased several knock-down shooters. In this article, we take a look at the top Snipers from the event.
Luke Kearney Luke Kearney 6'7" | SF Bella Vista Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’6 SF AZ Firestorm 2022 (#37PHA 2022) (featured image) – It was a terrific weekend for Kearney. The rangy shooter buried 6 3’s in a game against Colorado Anarchy and was basically money behind the arc all weekend. He displayed textbook form, complete with a quick release and consistent follow-through.
Ethan Smith 5’10 PG The Force D1 2022 – Smith is coming off a high school season where he shot over 34% from the field. He carried his hot shooting right into the weekend. The PG was lights out in catch and shoot situations, knocking down 4 trey’s in a game against the Las Vegas Olympians.
Carter Davis 6’3 SG Utah Force 2022 – Davis has some great timing. Every time I walked by a court, he seemed to be making a 3. The lefty shot it well in catch and shoot situations and was accurate even against good closeouts from defenders.
Davis Hester Davis Hester 6'0" | SG Liberty | 2023 State AZ 6’0 PG Arizona Factory 2023 (#78PHA 2023) – This kid has ice water in his veins. In a hotly contested game against AZ Firestorm, Hester continually knocked down shots to keep his team attached. He hit the majority in catch and shoot and seemed to never miss when he was left open from the corner.
Adam Bohls 5’7 PG EP Matrix 2023 – If you didn’t get a chance to see Matix play this weekend, then you missed out on a treat. The team was full of shooters, Bohls may have been the best one. The 5’7 sniper nailed 5 trey’s in one of the contests I had a chance to watch. He was money from behind the arc, especially when pulling up in transition.
Joe Mpoyo Joe Mpoyo 6'4" | SG Meridian | 2021 State ID 6’4 SG Idaho Premiere 2021 (#9PHI 2021) – Mpoyo lived up to his billing as one of the top shooters on the West Coast, and even entered into the prettiest shot category. He has a textbook release and uses his legs to get great lift on his shot. He was accurate all weekend, burrying 3’s from the wing.
David Burnett 5’10 PG Utah Force 2022 – In one of the games I was watching Burnett pulled up from just behind the Volleyball line, snapping the net with a 3. The odd part… no one looked surprised. That’s because he made several long-range bombs throughout the weekend for the Force, earning him a spot on this list.
Jaydon S Cameron Jaydon S Cameron 6'4" | SG Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ 6’2 SG AZ Firestorm 2023 (#86PHA 2023) – Cameron makes this list on the strength of one shot, but what a shot it was. Down by 3 with only seconds remaining and having to go the length of the court, the 6’2 SG decided half court was close enough to get into his shot. He calmly pulled up, snapping the net and sending one of the wildest games we’ve seen on the circuit into overtime.
