Here is a look at the First & Second Teams out of the squads we were able to watch play at Marietta HS.
First Team
2022 6-0 PG Patrick Burke – Tri-City Elite
Every time Patrick Burke stepped onto the floor, you could pencil him in for 20+ points. The wired-to-score lefty plays with swagger and consistently hits big shots. Burke is a three-level scorer that knows how to create separation on the perimeter. As good a scorer as he is, Burke is also an exceptional playmaker.
2022 6-1 G KJ Reid KJ Reid 6'2" | SG Social Circle | 2022 State GA – JC Ducks
Reid’s 34-point outburst to open the event was the best performance I saw. Reid is an elite shooter that can score with his feet set or off the dribble. He knows how to work screens, probing the defense to get what he wants. Even when in attack mode, Reid still made sure to maintain his court vision when getting downhill.
2022 6-1 G Ahmed Soumahoro Ahmed Soumahoro 6'3" | SG Berkmar | 2022 State GA – Quiet Storm
Ahmed Soumahoro Ahmed Soumahoro 6'3" | SG Berkmar | 2022 State GA had some of the best dunks of the weekend, putting multiple defenders on a poster. The highlight reel dunker has a quick first step to the hoop. When left open from beyond the arc, Soumahoro cashes in at a high rate. He was dynamic.
2021 6-4 F Jaycob Rodriguez – North Florida Elite
You could put Jaycob Rodriguez anywhere on the floor and he would be successful. Rodriguez did a bulk of his damage in the paint, but he could be seen helping handle the ball as well. Rodriguez was a bulldozer inside, gobbling up rebounds and using his physicality to score through defenders. He was a double-double threat all tournament.
2022 6-5 W Xzavier Wilcher Xzavier Wilcher 6'5" | SF Mitchell County | 2022 State GA – Tri-City Elite
The length, athleticism and outside shooting of Xzavier Wilcher Xzavier Wilcher 6'5" | SF Mitchell County | 2022 State GA was too impressive to not land him on the First Team. Wilcher was a smooth three-point shooter but also showed the ability to battle on the offensive glass. He played above the rim and guarded multiple spots on defense.
Second Team
2022 5-11 PG Terrence Moore Terrence Moore 5'11" | PG Heritage-Conyers | 2022 State GA – Georgia Vision
One of the most consistent scoring guards in the event, Terrence Moore Terrence Moore 5'11" | PG Heritage-Conyers | 2022 State GA is a walking bucket when needed. He’s got the strength to get all the way to the rim and finish with floaters, but it’s his three-point shot that really opens things up. Add in his motor and ability to chip in in different ways and you have a potential breakout player.
2022 6-6 W Mekhi Witter Mekhi Witter 6'5" | SF Rockdale County | 2022 State GA – Georgia Vision
Mehki Witter will draw the attention of many coaches this upcoming season. His inside-out ability and toughness on the glass are impressive. The combo-forward has a soft touch around the rim and plays with energy.
2021 6-0 G Michael Teal – NOVA UNFD
The athleticism of Michael Teal opens up doors. He can hang in the air to find the open man or go ahead and finish at the rim. His first step gets him to the basket. Defensively, he’s a nightmare to go against with how quickly he can change directions and stay in front of ball handlers.
2022 5-10 PG Avery Marshall Avery Marshall 5'11" | PG Harrison | 2022 State GA – SBT
Avery Marshall Avery Marshall 5'11" | PG Harrison | 2022 State GA has proven to be a microwave scorer. Once he sees one shot drop, more are soon to follow, especially from distance. His dangerous outside shooting opens up the entire floor. He’s got the strength to finish inside and the awareness to kick out to open teammates once the defense collapses.
2022 6-2 G Jordan Decuir – Hustle Hard Elite
Jordan Decuir abused the rim at Marietta High School, throwing down thunderous dunks as he elevated above the defense. He bullied smaller defenders with his strength and got to his sweet spot time and time again.
