Unfortunately, the 4A level seems to always be slightly in the shadow of the 5A teams who have just enough student enrollment to be considered one of the “big schools”. In this past season, the Middleton Vikings were able to secure the 4A state championship behind a solid roster full of great players. There are always excellent games being played throughout the conference with lots of tough competition each and every night. Continue reading for a look at the best players from the 4A Southern Idaho All-Conference team.
Jaylen Alexander Jaylen Alexander 6'7" | PF Columbia | 2021 State ID , Columbia: Jaylen had a standout season at Columbia and showed glimpses of his full potential throughout most of the games. Jaylen has the full offensive package and can score at the rim, from outside, can dazzle with his handles, or can dish to the open man for an assist. He plays at a high level at all times on offensive and is a tough matchup with his touch at the rim and speed. On the defensive end, Jaylen is prone to foul trouble, but he is a tough rebounder and uses his physicality against weaker opponents.
Meritt Foote, Middleton: As one of the top players on the Middleton roster, Foote helped the Vikings secure their first state title in quite some time during this past season. Foote is a floor general that can put his teammates in positions to score while also being aware of the flow and tempo of the game. Foote has an excellent pull-up jumper and is a crafty finisher at the rim. Additionally, he plays hard on defense every possession and matches up well against any and all opposing guards.
Thad Sandidge, Nampa: At 6’4″, Thad spent a lot of time for Nampa in the post but flashed his guard skills throughout the season. Thad has a great looking stroke from outside and the ability to knock down the easy jumper over the top of smaller defenders. Sandidge is also a really solid passer who constantly puts his teammates in positions to score. Finally, Thad is a great rebounder on both ends of the floor where he can crash the glass hard and either close defensive possessions, or extend offensive possessions.
