Although a quick history lesson will tell you that the original state capitol of Idaho was supposed to be located in Lewiston, ID, the great north still feels like an afterthought to anybody from the big cities down in southern and eastern Idaho. Now that we have that out of the way, the 4A Inland Empire conference should receive more recognition as a source for quality basketball. A lot of great teams show their skills and abilities across the conference and games are always tight. Continue reading for a look at some of the top players from the 4A Inland Empire All-Conference team.
Jalen Skalskiy, Lakeland: The conference player of the year was a matchup nightmare all season long for opposing teams. At 6’6″, Jalen is a solid guard/forward who loves to finish with a jam at the rim. Jalen is a tough lefty who is long and athletic. He has a great looking step back jumper and he can shoot from anywhere on the floor. On defense, he is bouncy and times his jumps well in order to block shots and take away easy buckets from being scored.
Colin Roos Colin Roos 6'1" | SF Sandpoint | 2023 State ID , Sandpoint: One of the only sophomore’s on the all-conference team, Roos showed that he will be a key part of the Sandpoint roster for years to come. Roos did it all for the Bulldogs this past season as one of the leading scorers on the team as well as being a great rebounder. On defense, Colin blocked a lot of shots and did not back down against players with more size. Colin will continue to expand his game on both ends of the floor as he becomes a great player.
Jamari Simpson, Moscow: Jamari was a standout point guard/shooting guard for the Moscow Bears this past season. Simpson is quick and he has great handles that allow him to get to anywhere on the court with ease. Jamari is a lights out shooter from downtown and likes to use a step back move to create separation before knocking down the jumper. Simpson will be a great player for Moscow next year with his leadership abilities on and off of the court.
