Within this mix, there are a wide variety of basketball styles being used and a lot of these teams have to overcome a totally different approach in order to secure wins on the road. This past season showed the true skill and ability displayed from top to bottom in the conference and each and every game came down to the final buzzer. Continue reading for a look at some of the best players from the 3A Snake River Valley All-Conference team.
Hyrum Lindsey Hyrum Lindsey 6'4" | PF Fruitland | 2021 State ID , Fruitland: Lindsey earned conference player of the year honors this past season as an incredibly difficult matchup for defenders at any level. Hyrum has great size and uses this attribute to his advantage on offense and defense. He has a silky jumper that he can knock down from anywhere inside the gym. At the rim, Hyrum finishes with authority and can also use his strength to go through defenders to get to the basket.
DJ Green, McCall-Donnelly: Green will be coming back next season to complete his senior season and the rest of the state should be worried. DJ had a great regular season before becoming purely dominant during McCall-Donnelly’s postseason run. Green showed an incredible ability to finish at the rim using a variety of pivots and fakes while also knocking down free throw line or elbow jumpers. As DJ works on perfecting his shot from outside this summer, the rest of the 3A level should be very worried for March of 2022.
Mason Strong, Homedale: Strong has two remaining seasons of eligibility for Homedale and he will look to help his team make deep runs into the postseason. Mason plays with the IQ of a point guard and he commands his teammates while he is on the court. On defense, Strong is able to grab a lot of steals before converting them into fast break opportunities in transition. On offense, Mason can score at will and he will only continue to get better as he stays in the gym for the next few year to hone his craft.
