Continue ReadingThe list of elite level prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) who are transferring high schools this off-season continues to grow here in May. Since our first spring 2021 transfer watch post, several more exceptionally talented area prospects have announced they will be changing schools this summer.
Among those highlighted in our second list of transfers for Spring 2021 is a 4-star, 1st Team All-State player with multiple D-I offers.
Jameel Brown Jameel Brown 6'4" | SG Westtown School | 2022 State #180 Nation PA – 6’4” / Senior / Westtown School / Combo Guard: Brown’s sophomore year at the Haverford School was shut down by a broken wrist. This winter he returned to the Fords lineup fully healed and playing with a chip on his shoulder. Now this 1st Team All-State selection will head to Westtown for his senior year. This past season all elements of Brown’s elite game were on display — long range shooting, high basketball IQ, outstanding work on the boards and off-the-charts athleticism. Once again this season Brown displayed the unique ability to take over a game without forcing the action or playing hero ball. He averaged 21.7 ppg to go along with 8 rpg. and 3 apg. He posted 20+ in numerous games this season, but two efforts in particular really standout: his 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in a win over Malvern Prep and 29 points (3 threes) in a double OT loss to Germantown Academy. Seth Berger and Westtown are gaining an elite guard who holds a slew of DI offers.
Jack Collins – 6”5” / Senior-PG / Phelps School / Shooting Guard: The former Manasquan High School (NJ) standout crosses the Delaware River to join a loaded Phelps School roster. Collins perimeter shooting ability helped Manasquan finish the 2020-21 season ranked #2 in NJ and run up a 43-1 record over last 2 seasons. Collins averaged 16 ppg. on the strength of nearly 4 made threes per night (44% on 3PAs for the season). In addition to his long range shooting, Collins is skilled at creating looks for himself off the dribble. He was also the leading rebounder for Manasquan this past season. After the 2020-21 season Collins was a 1st team All-Shore Conference selection. He owns a career high scoring performance of 29 points and once drained 8 threes in a single game.
Justin Moore Justin Moore 6'1" | CG Archbishop Wood | 2022 State PA – 6”1” / Junior / Archbishop Wood / Point Guard: Wood doesn’t rebuild, they just reload. After a 14-0 PCL season and a runner up finish in the 6A state tourney, the Vikings land the most coveted high school free agent on the market (Moore’s previous school Bishop McDevitt closed down). With his speed, Moore can really push the ball in transition. In the half court, that same speed combined with ball-on-a-string-handles allows Moore to attack defenses off the dribble. He plays with the poise and composure of a veteran. In 2020-21 he posted a stat line of 12 ppg; 3.6 rpg; and 4.4 apg for which he was selected to the PIAA 3A All-State 2nd team. He holds offers from a number of D-I schools.
Saleem Payne, Jr. – 5’11’’ / Phelps School / Sophomore / Combo Guard: Payne, Jr. is departing Cheltenham, transferring to the Phelps School and reclassing into the 2023s. Phelps Head Coach Trey Morin is getting one hell of a prospect. Payne owns one of the best “mid-range and in” skill sets in the Philadelphia area. He is a super quick lead guard who can use the dribble to execute a stop and pop from 15-feet or continue all the way to the cup for lay-in. Once he gets into his bag of dribbling tricks, Payne is practically un-guardable. He has been known to drain a few threes, so playing off Payne is not really an option. In addition to his elite offensive skills, Payne is a maximum effort player on defense.
