Some just stuck out, however, not for any one particular reason. They just impressed as players who really deserve notice and are worth watching moving forward.
Asa Barnes, 2023, 6-foot-2 guard/forward, Perry Ellis 34 2023, Wichita Southeast:
An ultra-smooth wing, Barnes played against older competition and stood out for the younger PE 34 club. With his quick first step, he has a nice ability to penetrate from the wing, splitting defenders, pulling up for jumpers, or making athletic attacks of the rim. His midrange game is top notch.
Will Cain Will Cain 6'6" | F Edmond Memorial | 2022 OK , 2022, 6-foot-6 forward, Team Buddy Buckets Oklahoma, Edmond Memorial:
Cain sowed a really impressive set of skills for a big player. He’s got great hands, great touch and great coordination. He dropped some 3-pointers, showed he can penetrate and dish, and is a good passer. He sees the floor, has good patience, and plays within the team concept.
Brody Casson, 2022, 6-foot-6 forward, KC Spurs White, Olathe South:
Casson is a big man with a solid build. He is a presence in the lane, blocking shots and getting after rebounds. He’s strong and moves well. He fits in nicely within the team concept, but he’s a good option when he posts up. He has good post moves and a nice touch from in close.
Ismael Fadiga, 6-foot-4 forward, SSA Hoops Elite White, Junction City:
Fadiga is a long leaper who makes an impact with his athleticism. He has intriguing combination of size, quickness and explosiveness. He made some impressive catches and scores in the lane. Fadiga gets up after rebounds with his spring and long arms. He often has to match up against the opponents’ tallest player, setting up some interesting battles in the lane.
Diego Garcia Diego Garcia 6'3" | SF North Rock Creek | 2022 OK , 2022, 6-foot-2 guard, Next Level Oklahoma, North Rock Creek (pictured):
Garcia is a big combo guard who can be a matchup problem for small guards. He can really elevate and rebound, and once the ball is in his hands, he is a point guard. He can push the ball up court, or catch it and penetrate and dish. He showed anticipation to intercept passes and come up with loose balls. He can score without taking a lot of shots.
Luke Tolbert Luke Tolbert 5'10" | SG Garden City | 2022 KS , 2022, 5-foot-11 guard, Team Buddy Buckets KS, Garden City:
Tolbert displayed a quick release from deep and ability to affect a game with the deep ball. He’s athletic enough to make plays in the open court and in transition. Tolbert isn’t a big guard, but he gets after it and makes plays.
