Jordan Nkoa-Abessolo Jordan Nkoa-Abessolo 6'5" | PF St. Maria Goretti | 2022 State MD | St. Maria Goretti
Ranking: No. 29
Positional Ranking: No. 7
Abessolo put together a productive junior campaign despite his team struggling overall. The 6-foot-4 wing really has to play as an undersized forward for the Gaels, but supplies great versatility and effort on the defensive end that makes up for his lack of height. St. Maria Goretti featured Randolph Macon commit Vincent Payne Vincent Payne 6'2" | CG St. Maria Goretti | 2021 State MD and a talented 2022 forward with budding potential in Jordan Green Jordan Green 6'5" | C St. Maria Goretti | 2022 State MD , but it was Abessolo who was most consistent. He’s a bruiser that attacks the rim relentlessly and with his blend of strength and athleticism, it makes it tough for opposing bigs to contain throughout a 32-minute game.
CJ Scott CJ Scott 6'4" | SF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 MD | Archbishop Spalding
Ranking: No. 39
Positional Ranking: No. 10
Scott was an instrumental piece to Spalding’s success this season thanks to his versatility and size at 6-foot-5. The common theme with Scott through the past two seasons is his ability to look like a Division I prospect in spurts. The issue has been at the other end of that spectrum, there are times where he becomes invisible. He’s equipped with the skillset, size and athleticism to be an impact player at all times, but establishing that consistency will be key moving forward. As he looks to be a big piece on Team Melo this spring and summer, I’ll be continuing to watch him in this sense with a very close eye.
Andrew Rheubottom Andrew Rheubottom 6'2" | SF Milford Mill | 2022 MD | Milford Mill
Ranking: No. 85
Positional Ranking: No. 20
Rheubottom missed out on his junior season with COVID prohibiting Maryland Public Schools from having a season. At 6-foot-3, he’s a bit undersized for his position, but plays much bigger than his listed height. He can defend bigger matchups defensively in the post and spent much of his years prior to high school being delegated to the paint. His game has evolved into more of a perimeter attack and Rheubottom is more comfortable putting the ball on the floor especially in transition after collecting rebounds.
John Thomas John Thomas 6'3" | SF Patterson | 2022 State MD | Patterson
Ranking: No. 86
Positional Ranking: No. 21
Thomas is another hybrid type of wing that is somewhat undersized for the position at 6-foot-3. Similar to Rheubottom, Thomas came up playing the forward position and expanded his skill set as his high school career has progressed. Thomas has good length and is a proven disruption as an off-ball defender. He’s a consistent shot-maker from mid-range and can finish on drives to the basket with craft.
