The players are up to the challenge, especially the unranked ones who are unafraid to show their potential. Here are the unranked prospects who have stood out in AAU play.
Pat Rogers, 6’6 SF Rutherford 2022
Rogers has made an instant impact with the NJ Panthers as he has been able to show his full game. The lanky 6’6 wing has a nice touch around the basket and does not mind drawing contact. Rogers can also put the ball on the floor and can knock down open jumpers from distance. He is a strong rebounder and his length gives him the potential to defend multiple positions. Rogers recently picked up an offer from Georgian Court, which could be the first of more to come.
Kordell Philemon, 6’3 PG Union Catholic 2024
Philemon has been making some noise with NEBC Philly as he is becoming more comfortable with the ball in his hands. The 6’3 guard has a good handle and is able to beat his defender off the bounce. Philemon knows how to draw contact and can finish in a variety of ways around the basket. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and is an underrated rebounder. Philemon is starting to come into his own and will be a player to watch as the AAU season rolls on.
Savod Goodwin, 6’5 SF Arts 2024
Goodwin had a strong weekend at the Pitt Jam Fest with the NJ Scholars and it should be the first of more to come. The 6’5 wing attacks the basket hard and does not mind contact. Goodwin is comfortable playing on the perimeter and is working on his range. He works hard on the glass at both ends and is an underrated shot-blocker. Goodwin is just starting to scratch the surface of his potential, which makes him an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.
Joe Scrivanich, 6’4 SG Bergen Catholic 2022
Scrivanich has been making a name for himself with the East Coast Cyclones and it should only continue as the AAU season rolls on. The 6’4 guard has a quick release on his jumper and wastes little motion in his shooting form. Scrivanich is more than just a shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He does not take a play off at either end and is unafraid of the competition. Scrivanich is the type of gritty shooter that will help teams win games at the next level.
Justin Fermin, 5’11 PG Lawrenceville 2023
Fermin performed well for Team AM at the NJ Legacy scrimmages and it should carry over into the rest of the AAU season. The 5’11 guard has a nice handle and knows how to finish around the rim. Fermin does not get rattled under pressure and makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands. He plays with quick hands on the defensive end and can knock down open jumpers from the perimeter. Fermin’s ability to control the game is something that will help his development moving forward.
