Of course, I am talking about the frontcourt. In this segment, I will try and highlight players I have not mentioned in the past. Some of the players below are evolving big-men that should continue to grow.
Let’s dive into it….
Denzel Dorn – Gulliver Prep
2023 Denzel Dorn is a huge player that I would consider a project as of now. The 6-foot-6 center is an imposing figure at roughly 250 pounds. His frame offers a lot to work with if he can maintain his conditioning. Moreover, he just needs time and development as your four or five. I can see this kid being productive given further opportunities.
Sami Elkamel Sami Elkamel 6'8" | PF Pembroke Pines Charter | 2023 State FL – Calvary Christian Academy
2023 Sami Elkamel Sami Elkamel 6'8" | PF Pembroke Pines Charter | 2023 State FL is a player I have yet to see much action on. The 6-foot-8 power forward plays on a Eagles squad with six D-1 players. Moreover, Calvary Christian was the 3A state champions playing on a national schedule. While tough cracking the lineup, Elkamel has a ton of talent and potential. It is said that he will grow to be 7-feet tall. That is enough to convince me that he has a chance to be special. He will also get exposure playing for scouts around the country under the tutelage of Cilk McSweeney. Check out his tape by clicking here.
Lionel Swaby Lionel Swaby 6'7" | PF Norland | 2022 State FL – Miami Norland
Swaby is a potential riser given his length and athleticism. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 3.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. While having minimal offensive production, Swaby did grab seven or more boards in six games and had 117 total. He also rejected 39 shots on the defensive end. Defensive specialist? Miami Norland is also a terrific team with star power for him to grow his game.
Juan Bell – Jupiter
Jupiter has a potential weapon in 2023 Juan Bell. The 6-foot-6 wing has a solid frame and could grow a bit more. Unlike some players his size, Bell weighs in at 220 pounds so he can take on contact around the rim. His post skill could develop and help Jupiter improve on its 7-9 record from last season.
Cole McCabe Cole McCabe 6'7" | SF Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL – Miami Country Day
McCabe has the talent to become more of a factor into his junior season. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 3.3 points and 3.8 rebounds last season for the Spartans. Playing with 2023 Jasai Miles Jasai Miles 6'5" | CG Miami Country Day | 2023 State #241 Nation FL should benefit his game as well.
