Here are a few players receiving all-state honors who haven’t gotten much publicity:
Bronxon Frierson, senior, Wichita Heights – 6A 3rd team:
The 6-foot-1 guard helped lead the Falcons to a really solid 11-5 mark in the Wichita City League. He did a lot of things well for the very young team. He led the Falcons with 10.5 points, and with 1.6 assists, while also contributing 2.9 rebounds per game from the shooting guard spot.
Chauncey Keys Chauncey Keys 6'4" | PF JC Harmon | 2021 State KS , senior, KC-Harmon – 6A Honorable Mention:
The long and rangy 6-foot-4 wing did a lot of good things in every phase of the game as a senior. He pulled down 5.3 rebounds and recorded 2.6 steals every game. On offense, he recorded 12.0 points and dished out 2.6 assists in his well-rounded stat line.
AJ King, senior, Wichita East – 6A Honorable Mention:
King led the senior-dominated Aces with 16.3 points per game, and also recorded 4 steals from his guard spot. The highlight of his season was his 23 points, 4 assists and 5 steals against Southeast. He also racked up 22 points in a tough loss to Maize.
Nick Hogan Nick Hogan 6'5" | SF Eisenhower | 2021 State KS , senior, Eisenhower – 5A 2nd team (pictured):
The 6-foot-5 senior was a double-double powerhouse for Eisenhower. He was one of the state’s leaders with a 14.4 rebounding average, and he also tossed in 18.3 points per contest. Sadly the Tigers didn’t pick up a lot of wins in his senior season, but Hogan proved a tough and willing leader.
Brock Merz, senior, Arkansas City – 5A Honorable Mention:
Always willing to get after loose balls and to lock down on defense, Merz was a 6-foot-3 senior leader for the Bulldogs. He led the club with 14.0 points and with 6.7 rebounds, while also contributing 1.2 assists and 1.8 steals per outing.
Cam’ron Moses, senior, Goddard – 5A Honorable Mention:
It was a really tough go for Goddard, but Moses was a reliable senior leader who did what he could. The 6-foot-4 small forward was the Lions’ scoring leader with 18.8 points per night, and he also was the team’s best rebounder with 5.1 boards per game.
