Whether they are a pass first point guard, or a scoring guard these guards have proved they are here to play. Here are a few breakout performances by guards in the Seattle area.
Markell Jackson 6’0 Graduating class of 2021
Jackson has had an amazing season so far, he is averaging 22 points a game and adding 6.7 rebounds. What impressed me the most about this young man is his ability on the defensive end. In his second game of the season he had 8 steals and averages 4.5 per game. He is a two sport athlete whose athletic ability has helped him thrive in both. When a player cares just as much about the defensive end as offense that is someone you want on your team.
Nasir Graves 5’11 Graduating class of 2021
Graves is the type of player to not only fill the stat sheet but do all the little things. On a team that prides itself on defense, he definitely brings the energy. He is having a strong senior season. Not only is he a strong defensive player he has great vision and is always looking to get his teammates involved. He is also very patient and is great at protecting the ball and keeping his turnovers low.
Dunkan Nguyen Graduating class of 2022
Nguyen came out this week on fire, scoring a season high of 37 points. He made 5 of 9 from 3 and shot 10 for 11 from the field. This kid can shoot lights out from three and is great at picking and choosing his moments. Being a knock-down shooter who can also get to the rim makes him so hard to defend. With his season-high he added 5 rebounds and 3 steals. It is safe to say that this kid was all over the court. His high energy and skill set make him fun to watch.
Trevor Henning 6’0 Graduating class of 2024
As I watched this kid play I thought he was a strong IQ player with great vision, if only he would be a little more aggressive. Then I realized that he is only a freshman. To average almost 8 points as a freshman and to high games with 5 rebounds and 4 assists is huge. This young man has a bright future. To come in at such a young age and have an impact says a lot about who he is as a player and what he can be over the next 4 years. If he continues to develop and work on his game he will be a tough competitor and someone to keep your eye on.
