Due to its rural and remote nature Northern Michigan is not a region flush with grassroots programs. One of the longest running and active programs is the aptly named Parallel 45. After a successful season coaching the 16U squad. Coach Josh Gray returns and will lead the 17U squad. The team will feature some returning players along with some exciting new arrivals.
ROSTER
Joel Ewald Joel Ewald 5'10" | SG Roscommon | 2022 State MI 5-11 2022 Roscommon Small but well schooled floor general. Coaches son and plays like it. Size has held him back before but has added an inch or two recently. Will be the lead playmaker for this squad which he also ran with last summer. Averaged 13.5 points per game in the regular season.
Quinn Zickert Quinn Zickert 6'2" | CG Benzie Central | 2022 State MI 6-2 2022 Benzie Central Physically imposing old school wing. Played in the post out of necessity for a small Benzie Central squad. Looking forward to the grassroots season where he can move back to the perimeter. Has a soft touch to go with a powerful frame. Averaged 13.5 points per game playing largely out of position.
Nate Childers Nate Childers 6'2" | CG Benzie Central | 2022 State MI 6-1 2022 Benzie Central Unlike his teammate Childers got to play in his natural lead guard position and did it well. Not a water bug point guard prospect with his well developed upper body. Highly competitive and is not going to get pushed around on the perimeter. Quickness continues to develop as he will have to show he can stay in front of smaller guards. Averaged 14.8 points per game in the regular season
Trevin Winkle 6-4 2022 McBain Northern Michigan Christian New arrival coming off a huge junior season. Led the Comets to a district title before falling to eventual state quarterfinalist Frankfort. Versatile player who is a matchup nightmare. Can play all five positions at the Division 4 high school level. Plays at a small parochial school but has the ability to play in any classification. Averaged a double double with 19.4 points per game to go along with 10 boards last season. Will be one of top players in Northern Michigan next year regardless of division.
Brock Broderick Brock Broderick 6'3" | SG Traverse City Christian | 2022 State MI 6-3 2022 Traverse City Christian Another small parochial school player with a huge statistical profile. Has a lot of grassroots experience although he did not run with this squad last summer. Bouncy and rangy athlete who also posted an impressive double double. Averaged 21.6 points per game this past season to go along 11.2 rebounds.
Dylan Cragg Dylan Cragg 6'4" | SG Grayling | 2022 State MI 6-4 2022 Grayling Comes over after playing with the Grand Rapids Storm last summer. Big time athlete with the ability to play well above the rim. Displayed this athleticism by averaging seven rebounds a game. However also has the ability to get hot from beyond the arc. Averaged 13.8 points per game playing in the highly competitive Lake Michigan conference.
Caleb Caul 6-3 2022 Grayling Cragg’s regular season teammate returns for his second go round with this squad. Good athlete who displayed a high level of competitiveness last summer. Did not back down from anyone as he often played out of position for last year’s smaller group. Should be able to play his more natural 1-3 positions due to the last two players on this list.
Kadyn Warner 6-4 2022 Traverse City Central Big time three sport standout at one of the largest schools in Northern Michigan. At 230 pounds plays bigger than his listed height. Standout in both football and track to go along with the hardwood. Not just a banger as he has excellent footwork to go along with ability finish with both hands.
Braidon Ewing 6-7 2022 Petoskey Another big man from the Big North conference with a developing game. Had a big season for the Northmen. Telling that two of his standout games came in victories against Cadillac and their imposing frontline. Runs the court very well for his size and also has the ability to hit the three. Has the length to be an elite defender and is already a good shot blocker. Physical profile make this is a very intriguing prospect to monitor in the upcoming spring/summer.
