Both teams are full of talent. College coaches and basketball fans will want to get in the gym and watch these players and teams compete, they are 2 great groups of players.
17U Prospects record 2-2
Wins – against #EBE West and ND Phenom. They showed good team chemistry in these wins.
and losses to MN Rise and
Losses – Thunder Basin and MN Rise. They struggled from the FT and could not get stops down the stretch.
Standout Players
Nick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| West Fargo – He was the most consistent player in the tournament. He did a nice job rebounding. Nick finished greatly around the rim. He is a physical and crafty player.
Ian Motschenbacher Ian Motschenbacher 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-0 G| Fargo Davies – He had a solid weekend. Ian did a nice job at getting into the lane, drawing defenders, and kicking out to shooters. For a smaller guard, he rebounds very well for ECI.
Paul Olson Paul Olson 6'3" | SF Kindred | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-4 G| Kindred – He was really good for ECI over the weekend. Paul is super athletic. Olson had some huge dunks in traffic that left everyone impressed. He blocked a ton of shots from the backside of the defense.
17u Selects record 2-2.
They won their pool and hung with the Pentagon Schoolers in the first round of the top division with only 6 players. They have been battling injuries and a few guys could not attend this tournament. The Selects team played really hard.
Standout Players
Connor Trahan Connor Trahan 6'5" | SG Bismarck Century | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-5 G| Bismarck Century – He defended really well in the tournament. Trahan locked up the opposing team’s best player. Connor hit many 3-point shots on the weekend. He also rebounded very well.
Jalen May Jalen May 6'3" | SF Fargo North | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 F| Fargo North –He penetrated gaps, got to the rim, and finished well. May is a big man who is really smooth with some guard attributes. Jalen drew fouls and had multiple “And 1’s” throughout the weekend.
Mason Hills (2022) |5-10 G| Moorhead – He was consistently in “attack mode”. The lefty was tough to stop last weekend. Mason finished well at the rim and he made the extra pass when needed. He had a very nice tournament.
