In normal years, a run to the state championship would allow a lot of players to be seen by coaches and scouts on their trip to VCU. While this year was a little different, thanks to the NFHS there were still ways to watch the state championships and still players who were seen and made a name for themselves. One of those prospects was 6’11” Evan Ramsey Evan Ramsey 7'0" | C Abingdon | 2023 VA of Abingdon, as the sophomore helped his school to the state championship before falling to Hopewell in the championship game.

Ramsey was a big part of their run as he asserted himself as one of the best big man prospects in the state, but he says the run was extra special because of the bond he had with his senior class.

“Well it means a lot because I have a very close bond with our seniors and we really grew as a team and I feel like I grew a lot as a player from the first game until the last in the state championship,” Ramsey said.
