Minnesota Heat Conyers17U Has Size on the Perimeter Impressing in Win
In the opener Minnesota Heat Conyers 17U had a rock solid performance anchored by their wing play. Erik Rottinghaus from Wayzata (MN) was lights out from the perimeter knocking down an array of threes for 18 points. Crisp and concise release. Really liked what North Metro Blazers (MN) 2022 small forward Josh Hoffman brought to the table. Plus size and can really handle it. Was fouled on several drives and looked smooth with it in his hands netting 14 points. Devin Williams from Fridley (MN) left an impression with his pull up game and turning defense into offense in their win. The standout for Victory Ministry was Teddy Reedybacon. The Macdonald County (MO) 6’10” five man anchored down on the low block scoring in the high/low game along with having several put backs.
AAO Flight 17U Shoots Lights Out from Three in Win Over NEBC
Two high octane offenses battled in this one. AAO Flight out of Arkansas was absolutely relentless with the way they shot it from deep. Rogers (AR) 2022 shooting guard Will Liddell hit three from distance and got to the line where he connected at a high rate for 15 points. Also liked what Riley Buccino from Bentonville West (AR) did with his sniping from deep. Consistent shooter with a free and easy release dropped 16 points. Berryville (AR) 6’9” five man Weston Teague has a lot of intriguing tools at the small college level with his mobility and size. For NEBC out of New York the show as usual was Jerome Brewer. The Taylor Made Prep (AZ) bound 6’8” power forward has strong body and nimble foot working in the paint. Clean looking jumper from mid-range that can stretch to three and he loves taking his man out on the perimeter and winning off the bounce. Antoine Arnett is a 2022 two guard that made a name. Athletic wing that won off the dribble over and over again with his ability to finish through and around contact at the cup. Slick scorer in transition went for 19 points.
Young & Reckless Brim 17U Features Unsigned 2021 Gems
In our first look at Young & Reckless Brim 17U it was a blowout victory for the Chicago squad over Gateway Knights. Unsigned senior Amar Augillard was an absolute force! The 6’6” bulky combo forward physically dominated the game with the way he went right after his opponent. Started off by raining in two threes and then it was an all out assault on the rim as he got to the hoop over and over again in the half court and transition. If he missed he put it right back in. Mid-major and low-majors should really take a look at this kid. With so much focus on transfers this is a guy that can help right away with his college ready body! Went for 27 points in the win. Joliet West wing Jaiden Lee is a long and rangy wing who will be going to prep school next year and with an added year he could be a low-major guy. Hit a three which is what he does best, but it was his activity around the hoop on put backs and hitting the glass that left the biggest impression. Simeon 2022 point guard Avyion Morris is a high level on ball defender that brings the energy and smack talk intimidating opponents on that end. Offensively he hit a three ball and was electric with his passing including dishing to finishers and throwing lobs off the backboard. He had 7 points and completely controlled the game. Hampshire small forward Keynan Davis looked taller and more filled out than when we last saw him in person. The 6’5” small forward showed feel for his shot going for 11 points. Emondrek Ford flashed as well. The upside 6’8” four man from Bloom is active on the defensive end, a shot blocking presence, rebounds in traffic, and once he adds strength will be able to finish even better. St. Dominic (MO) 2022 6’4” small forward Ryan Schwendeman paced the Gateway Knights. Crafty scoring wing that gets to the line went for 13 points.
Illinois Bears 17U Spread Wealth in Win over Idaho Premier
Balanced effort for the Illinois Bears 17U in their opening victory over a solid Idaho Premier squad. Mascoutah 6’5” small forward Jack Seibert was the best we have seen him on Friday night. Gritty wing won on straight line takes pretty consistently throughout the night and also rebounds well for his position as he netted 15 points. Top prospect on this team is Mascoutah 2022 point guard Justin King. Long and rangy 6’4” point guard scored all nine of his points from beyond the arc. His consistency as a shooter has elevated his game over the last 12 months. Created space on a couple step backs. D1 prospect. Yet another Mascoutah player had a good outing in 2023 point guard Darien Singleton. Quick and compact guard is a blur with the ball using his speed and burst to score as he went for 9 points all coming in the second half. Breese Central shooting guard Brady Moore is the ideal small college prospect. Skilled player that can knock down shots and brings a ton of toughness and competitiveness to the table. He had 14 points including a sweet take, jump stop, and finish in traffic. Cobden 6’10” five man Elliot Lowndes has a ways to go adding strength, but he has plus length and potential as a shot blocker. Couple times opponents got him, but he is willing to contest which is huge. Skill hitting a mid-range jumper. For Idaho Premier Rocky Mountain (ID) unsigned senior Blake Munk was the show. The 6’2” two guard torched the nets for 17 points including five from beyond the arc. Quality small college off guard. Mountain View (ID) 2021 shooting guard Noah White brought athletic pop in the paint with 18 points in the loss. Smooth lefty jumper along with acrobatics at the rim. Big bodied 6’10” five man Brody Rowbury from Meridian (ID) is HUGE! Space eater inside that plays bully ball and actually moves decent for his size. Went for 12 points.
Minnesota Heat Grow 17U Depth Prevails Despite Monster Game From HIT Star
The Minnesota Heat Grow 17U squad is deep at the guard spot and has shooters all over the court. Shawn West-Zimpel Shawn West-Zimpel 6'2" | SG South St. Paul | 2022 State MN from South St. Paul (MN) popped off the floor to us athletically. The 6’2” combo guard is a lefty with a silky-smooth shot and got in the lane for a nice scoop shot en route to 10 points. Hakeem Ford out of Minneapolis Southwest (MN) also left an impact on the game going for 10 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Plus athlete got after it on both ends of the floor scoring inside and out along with impacting the game defensively. For HIT the story especially in the first half was Batavia power forward Ethan Ivan. The 6’7” face up four man lived up to that distinction with his ability to stretch the floor knocking down spot up triples at a high clip. Also mixed in several slick takes including one where he finished with his off hand. Scored 17 of his game high 23 points in the first half. D2s need to get in early here! Couple others that intrigued were Benet 6’8” five man Luke Tarnow and St. Charles North small forward Max Love. Tarnow is a big body inside that is still learning the game but loves to mix it up on the glass and even stepped out to hit a three. Love is a super utility guy that can hit a shot and get in the lane for runners. Fills in wherever needed.
EG10 Squeaks Out OT Win vs Tulsa Hawks in Thriller
Best game of the night was this one. EG10 got up big and then the Tulsa Hawks came all the way back to send it to OT. In the end EG10 recorded the narrow win in overtime. Ryan Conwell led the way for EG10. The Pike (IN) 6’3” point guard is a shifty left handed guard that has solid size and excellent handles. Made his living in the lane with explosiveness off the bounce along with hitting from mid-range on pull ups for 26 points. Lawrence Central (IN) 2022 shooting guard Greg Jenkins provided wing scoring especially in the open floor along with a pair of triples for 14 points. For the Tulsa Hawks Parker Friedrichsen led the way as usual especially in the first half. Rangy and projectable 6’4” two guard has an effortless stroke from deep along with a nice passing feel. Went for 25 points in the loss. The Bixby (OK) wing has star written all over him. Victory Christian (OK) 6’3” shooting guard Joshua Udomouh was the key to their comeback sending it to OT. Athletic wing that was so effective getting to the rim in transition with his burst in the open floor. Also hit an array of threes for 20 points.
