Jaeton Hackley Jaeton Hackley 5'11" | PG Douglas County | 2022 State CO – Douglas County
Hackley is a player that we have not been shy to speak highly about. His ability to affect a game and put the team on his back has him regarded as one of the top guards in the state, regardless of class. Hackley has excellent court vision and awareness and the ability to see plays before they happen, and that was on display in an important junior year. Douglas County did not have the season they wanted to have, but their junior guard helped them reach a 10-5 record and playoff push. Hackley had a career-best in essentially every category and led his team in nearly every stat. Hackley put up 19.0 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.3 rebounds a game while also getting 3.5 steals a game to go along with it. Being the team’s best offensive option, exerting his energy on the defensive end of the floor, and refusing to be scored on speaks volumes about the type of competitor he is. Hackley is a lead by example type of player that brings the best out of teammates, and he had a stellar season.
Quis Davis Quis Davis 5'11" | PG Denver East | 2022 State CO – Denver East
Denver East had plenty of shakeup throughout the year and took a major blow when their best player suffered a season-ending injury five games into the season. All that did was open up the door for Davis, and he answered the call. Davis led East to a 10-4 record and was one of the standout players on the year that saw his game elevate. Davis attacked the rim and got to his spots for game-altering dunks, opened up the floor as a much-improved shooter that consistently knocked down the 3-ball, and also got his teammates involved. Davis went from a true-point to the go-to options and catalyst for the Angels and showed up in every game. He is an electrifying guard who plays above his size, a true leader, and sees his game progress. He put up an impressive 16.4 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds a game while getting over three steals a game to go along with it—solid season for the junior guard.
Brayden Maldonado Brayden Maldonado 6'0" | PG Smoky Hill | 2022 State CO – Smoky Hill
Maldonado transferred into Smoky Hill and made an impact immediately. He is a dangerous guard that is not afraid to take chances, and his ability to affect the game with his scoring allowed the Buffaloes to again be one of the most entertaining teams in the state. Maldonado had 33 points in his CHSAA debut to set the tone early and let it be known that he would be a guard to take seriously. Maldonado put up 18.5 points and 4.6 assists a game as a junior guard that can open up the floor with unlimited range 3-pointers and also pushes the pace and finds teammates for easy baskets. Maldonado led Smoky Hill to a 10-6 record and was able to get his own with other standouts around him.
Brock Mishak Brock Mishak 6'3" | CG Fossil Ridge | 2022 State CO – Fossil Ridge
Fossil Ridge is a team that shocked many this year as the Sabercats finished the year with a 14-2 overall record. The group played the right way and got everyone involved, but they knew that when things got close and needed a basket, they had a 6’2 shooting guard in Mishak that could help put them over that hump. Mishak is a bucket, through and through. He is an aggressive guard that is looking to score and can create for himself off of the dribble and excels in PnR situations as well. Mishak has a great feel for the game and scores both inside and out. He competes hard on both ends of the floor but when he gets going, lights out. Mishak averaged a team-high 19.2 points a game but also had a stat-stuffing 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game to go along with it. Mishak continues to get better, and this year we got to see glimpses of the future as he is a next-level talent that can score the ball from all 3 levels.
Luke Hutto Luke Hutto 6'3" | SF Montrose | 2022 State CO – Montrose
Hutto is a player that seems to be a fixture in the 2022 class. He is a three-year starter for Montrose and has played plenty of meaningful basketball. The 6’3 wing led Montrose to an 18-1 record before losing to the eventual 4A state champions. Hutto took over in games as a wing threat that can attack defenses off the dribble, create for himself in ISO situations, and finish well around the basket. He is an excellent positional rebounder that puts a body on opponents, tracks down long boards, and starts the break himself. Hutto put up 15.1 points and 7.3 rebounds a game as a junior on one of the top teams in the state that remaining in the Top-10 the full year and will head into senior year with high expectations.
