Teams and their fans came out in droves all the way from North Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, San Antonio, Houston, and many more, ready to battle it out. This event was an action-packed thriller filled with buzzer-beaters, slam dunks, ankle breakers, you name it. Here we’ll take a look at a few prospects that showed an outstanding feel for the game from Prep Hoops Tune Up.
Jordon Greenhouse – Combo Guard – 3P Elite 2023
Jordon Greenhouse really got after it defensively, proving to be a hard-nosed, pesky, and competitive player that can make the most impactful plays on the floor. Greenhouse excelled playing in high-paced games where he was able to produce everything you could ask of a defender, blocks, steals, rebounds, shutting his assignment down on and off the ball, and consistently being the first person to the floor fighting for loose balls. Offensively, Jordan hit shots off the catch from his hot spots and attacked the rim with a full head of steam looking to initiate contact and draw fouls, which often worked in his favor especially when his team needed it the most. Jordon Greenhouse went out and upped his play in tight games and pressure situations
Connor Greavis Connor Greavis 5'11" | PG Livonia | 2023 State LA – Shooting Guard – Showtime Elite LA 2023
Connor Greavis Connor Greavis 5'11" | PG Livonia | 2023 State LA proved to be a team-oriented player that was extremely unselfish, always willing to make the extra pass, and consistently one of the first back on defense picking up a man or saving his team from giving up two easy points. Greavis played both on and off the ball but didn’t have to over-dribble or dominate the offense to be an effective scorer. He was more than comfortable shooting off the dribble but was most deadly and successful when catching-and-shooting where he was able to step into his shot with rhythm before letting it fly. Even when moving at full stride, he only needed a split second to get squared with the basket and get the ball out of his hands. Connor has an effortless shot release, he elevates high enough to shoot over contesting defenders, and has a very nice follow-through. His quickness and speed created mismatches and openings right away, resulting in transition buckets from deep. As a defender, Greavis was a pesky, locked-in defender with active hands and feet. He pressured opposing ball-handlers into constantly changing directions and also forced them into making quick decisions with the ball whether it was a shot, a dribble move, or a pass. Connor Greavis Connor Greavis 5'11" | PG Livonia | 2023 State LA changed the outcome of games with his effort and aggressiveness on both ends of the floor, he was the type of player that’s going to give the same effort on defense as he does on offense.
Caden Rizo Caden Rizo 6'1" | SF San Antonio Johnson | 2023 TX – Small Forward – Nike ProSkills San Antonio 2023 Black
Caden Rizo Caden Rizo 6'1" | SF San Antonio Johnson | 2023 TX really held things together on both sides of the ball by being someone his teammates could count on to always be in the right spot at the right time. This high motor player brought an abundance of energy to the floor and played with extreme amounts of toughness, more than willing to lay out for the ball or take a charge under the basket. Rizo showed a special combination of strength and athleticism that allowed him to affect the game with his physicality on the defensive end and his aggression on the glass. The ProSkills forward displayed potential as a lockdown defender due to his anticipation of the play and his instincts, Caden reacted to things in a blink of an eye and took it the other way for two points on multiple occasions. This Glue Guy was an effective communicator constantly calling out everything that he sees happening on the floor. On the offensive end, Rizo proved to be strong enough to power through traffic before finishing at the hoop and also capable of knocking down open shots from deep. Good first step, Rizo gets a nice burst of speed as soon he takes off. This caught a lot of defenders off guard, especially when closing out. Caden Rizo Caden Rizo 6'1" | SF San Antonio Johnson | 2023 TX was the perfect utility piece for his team, he doesn’t get out of character, he takes pride in his defense, and only does what’s best for the team.
Xavier Miller – Shooting Guard – Top Achievers Elite 2023
This 2024 recruit played up and showed a great feel for the game by being a true extension of the coach on the floor, running through the offense with perfection, utilizing screens, and often finding openings beyond the arc and in the mid-range, where he did most of his damage, making the defense pay for leaving him open. Miller was always in a spot where he could succeed, very disciplined, and did not try to do too much or more than he should, but when an opportunity came he took full advantage. On the final day of the tournament, Miller had a game where his full skill set was on display, nailing 4 three-pointers, 3 of those coming in the second half of play. He showed extraordinary body control while attacking the rim by hanging in the air when being contested and still finishing the shot through the defense. Xavier Miller had a standout defensive presence, good help-side and team defender, Miller stayed active in the passing lanes as well as the glass. This is a well-rounded talent that’s pretty good at just about every aspect of the game. Xavier Miller did it all for his team and held everything together at the Tune Up.
Aidan Winn – Combo Guard – BYG Elite 2023
Aidan Winn is a high IQ basketball player with a nice outside stroke and a good feel for the game. Very crafty with the ball and capable of making tough passes and shots with either hand. Great court vision, calm and under control at all times, and wasn’t phased by tight or smothering defense. Aidan consistently made the right passes every time and often looked for the extra pass, always willing to make the unselfish play to set up his teammates. Winn was a knockdown shooter from outside, the kid had the green light and picked spots wisely, finding opening from beyond the arc, and knocking down multiple open three-pointers throughout the event. He also had a knack for utilizing pump fakes and head fakes effectively after his outside shooting was presence felt. Defensively, he rose to the occasion, Aidan Winn played incredibly hard and made a major effort to hassle ball handlers into making bad decisions with the ball.
