DENVER, CO-- Tonight, we will take a look at the top shooters from my eyes at the #PHSpringKickoff in the 15U Divison. Some of these prospects were under many radars, some showed plenty of unknown potential, and some just light up my notepad all weekend! Feel free to take a look at my five top shooters of the weekend, as seen virtually!

Trey Baskett | Guard | Emerald City Basketball Academy/Seattle Christian (WA) | (2024)

Baskett certainly lived up to his last name this weekend with the deep ball. With Baskett, it wasn’t how much he scored on the weekend; it was how clutch his scoring was for the 3-1 Emerald City Basketball Academy. If Baskett can develop a stronger knack for moving without the ball to find his shot from outside, he could grow on his catch & shooting ability in the coming years.

Xavier Pluto | Guard | Pluto Prospects | Colorado Springs, CO | (2024)

Pluto was a solid 5’10 guard prospect I got my first glimpse on mainly on Saturday. His ability to knock down shots over taller defenders from outside, especially in the first half against the Colorado Titans (2025), was what put him on this list. In a game of momentum, he pushed the pace with the big shots for Pluto Prospects to pull away from the Titans, mainly thanks to Xavier Pluto’s strong effort in the first half.

Ryan Doyle | Guard | Colorado Gold/Thunderridge (CO) | (2024)

Doyle was one of two prospects on this list that was so close to making my tournament team but was one of the top outside shooters I watched in one of the first games from Saturday. Not only does this kid have a versatile range where he can shoot from he also showed multiple other strengths in his arsenal on Saturday. Doyle passed the rock with excellent efficiency and poise and matched that skill set on the ball’s defense side with his lock-up defense that was super physical. Doyle might have been the best baseline to baseline prospect I watched this weekend out of Colorado Gold.

Devan Johnson | Guard | NBN/High Point Academy (CO) | (2025)

Johnson played up for this NBN squad but showed solid glimpses of what the future could be for this young man. When he got his limited opportunities for outside shots, he showed a tremendous stroke from deep that looked excellent from my virtual scouting lense. Johnson certainly needs more chances to get shots up based on what I saw this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="1168003" first="Gavin" last="Carter"] | Guard | Collective 15U/Chaparral (CO) (2024)

Holy cow, can this young man fill up a bucket or what! Carter has a quick stepback to set up a terrific outside look. His ability doesn’t stop there, as his quickness can take him to the bucket and score with ease which is another massive factor in his game. Where he showed his craft most was in the nail-biter vs. Colorado Premier, where he blew up to become the 2nd highest scorer of the weekend with 27 points in the most impressive game of the weekend. I also got a tip that Carter has grown a whopping 6 inches from a year ago, which is another reason why I believe he will be a terrific guard at Chaparral High School and has, in my eyes, an excellent opportunity to play college basketball.
