Prep Hoops Pennsylvania has been covering this league up and down over the course of this season, and now that the 2021 season has ended, it’s time to review the best of the best in the league, starting with the league’s top scorers.
Malik Edwards Malik Edwards 6'0" | CG Bonner/Prendergast | 2021 State PA – Bonner & Prendie
Edwards was one of the most electrifying players in the PCL this season, averaging 22.4 PPG on 49.5 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc in seven games this season. While Bonner & Prendie wasn’t able to get in a full season, Edwards made the most of his time on the court. The William Penn commit had a fantastic senior campaign and showed just how good of a scorer he can be. He’s a dual-threat scorer, able to carve defenders on his way to the basket or light it up from deep. Don’t let him get into a rhythm because once he gets hot, you’re not shutting him down. Keep an eye out on him in college because he is going to continue to ball out.
Jimmy King Jimmy King 6'0" | PG St. Joseph's Prep | 2021 State PA – St. Joseph’s Prep
King is a fantastic dual-sport athlete at St. Joe’s Prep, dominating on the court in basketball and on the diamond in baseball. In eight games during the 2021 season, he averaged 20.4 PPG, shooting 43.4 percent from beyond the arc and nearly 41 percent from the field as a senior. What stood out most was his free-throw shooting, where he shot 85 percent from the line. King was a go-to scoring threat, especially from the outside for SJP, and despite having a shortened season, he put in work on the court. He was a dynamic player and his presence on the court will be missed next season by the Hawks.
Daniel Skillings Daniel Skillings 6'5" | SG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA – Roman Catholic
Skillings was Roman’s top scorer and best forward this season, averaging 19.7 PPG on 52.3 percent shooting from the field. While his inside game was strong, Skillings also showed that he can shoot it from the outside, knocking down 19 three-pointers on the season and shooting 33.3 percent from the perimeter. The fact that he’s been willing to expand his game to the outside has really added another level to his game and he’s been nothing short of dominant on one of the best teams in the PCL.
Khalil Farmer Khalil Farmer PG Roman Catholic | 2022 State PA – Roman Catholic
Farmer and Skillings put on a show as the premier dynamic duo in the PCL in 2021. Farmer averaged 18.9 PPG on 49 percent shooting from the field and 42.6 percent shooting from the three-point arc, along with an 84.7 percent free-throw percentage. Farmer found his way to the line the most of anyone on Roman this season and he made his free throws count. Along with his ability to draw contact in the lane and attract defenders, he was a lights-out perimeter shooter and a strong defensive presence. He’s going to be an exciting watch come next season, his senior season for Roman.
Aaron Lemon-Warren Aaron Lemon-Warren 6'4" | SF Archbishop Ryan | 2021 State PA – Archbishop Ryan
Lemon-Warren had a strong 2021 season for Archbishop Ryan, leading the team in scoring and perimeter shooting, along with having the second-best overall field goal percentage on Archbishop Ryan. He averaged 18.8 PPG on 53.6 percent shooting from the field and 36.5 percent shooting from three-point range. He was an elite versatile player in the PCL, showing the ability to play both as guard and forward this season. He finished his Archbishop Ryan career with a run to the PIAA 5A State Championship game, and he’ll for sure be playing college basketball come the fall.
