Prep Hoops Pennsylvania has been taking a closer look at the PCL before, during and now after the 2021 season, continuing to recap what was a crazy season of basketball. From the top scorers in the league, PH now looks at the top rebounders in the league.
Hysier Miller Hysier Miller 6'2" | PG Neumann-Goretti | 2021 State PA – Neumann-Goretti
Miller was not only the best rebounder in the PCL during the 2021 season, but he was also among the top scorers in the league, hauling in 10.0 RPG along with 18.4 PPG on 52.2 percent shooting from the field and 41.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc. While playing in just nine games this season, Miller was absolutely electric on the court for Neumann-Goretti and continued to show an impressive ability to get in the right place for a rebound, very often winning the battle of the boards. The Temple commit is leaving a big legacy behind, but chose to stay local for his college basketball career.
Anquan Hill Anquan Hill 6'8" | PF Archbishop Carroll | 2021 State PA – Archbishop Carroll
Hill was one of the best forwards in the PCL in 2021, averaging 9.4 RPG along with 17.4 PPG on 50 percent shooting from the field. He wasn’t a strong perimeter shooter, making just over 21 percent of his three-point attempts, but he instead was a strong presence in the interior and the paint, averaging 2.2 BPG this season. Hill got fouled quite often, and when he got to the line, he made his tough takes in the lane count, shooting nearly 84 percent from the free throw line. The 6-9 forward will be continuing his basketball career at Fairleigh-Dickinson this fall.
Jimmy Casey Jimmy Casey 6'7" | C Lansdale Catholic | 2021 State PA – Lansdale Catholic
Casey was one of a few lone bright spots for a Lansdale Catholic team that finished the 2021 season with a 2-10 record, including a 2-9 record in league play. He led the team in most statistical categories, hauling in 9.4 RPG along with 13.7 PPG, 1.2 SPG and 1.4 BPG on 45.9 percent shooting from the field. Casey wasn’t afraid to shoot from outside, but shot just 14.3 percent from three during the season. He doesn’t need to shoot the three to be effective as he’s shown an incredible tenacity in the lane to scoop up rebounds and give himself and Lansdale Catholic more abilities to score.
Donald Imo Donald Imo 6'7" | PF Conwell-Egan | 2021 State PA – Conwell-Egan
It’s hard to pinpoint a position on a Conwell-Egan team that went just 1-12 this season, but the senior Imo was a hard player to overlook as he finished up his high school career with a stellar senior season. Imo averaged 8.5 RPG, 12.5 PPG, 2.7 SPG and 2.4 BPG during the 2021 season, showing off elite rebounding and shot-blocking ability that rivaled the best in the league. Imo, despite shooting under 39 percent from the field, made his work on the defensive end count more and was still an effective player on offense, the lone player on Conwell-Egan to post a double-figure scoring average this season.
Muneer Newton Muneer Newton 6'5" | PF Archbishop Wood | 2021 State PA – Archbishop Wood
With a cast of incredible talents on Archbishop Wood, Newton stood out as arguably the best forward in the PCL in 2021. He averaged 7.7 RPG, 11.3 PPG, 1.6 BPG and 1.4 SPG on 71.2 percent shooting from the field, the best mark in the league by a wide margin. The next-closest player didn’t even shoot above 65 percent from the field, showing how much of a scoring machine and an efficient player Newton was this season. The senior ends his high school career coming just short of a state title in 2021, but a career that was among the best in program history.
