Charlie Theis, 2024, Minnesota Fury:
Theis showed off a great combination of strength and agility, ability to drive to the hole and power around the rim. He plays above the competition, and is relentless on the glass. He has great hands and a soft touch, even in traffic. He can rip down a rebound and take it the other way with confidence. The 6-foot-4 Thies was one of the best players in Kansas City on day two.
Hunter Lorenson, 2024, Minnesota Heat – Bohrer, Lake City:
Lorenson showed a relentlessness and tenacity at both ends that was a difference maker for the Heat. The 5-foot-10 guard collects loose balls and steals with pride. At the offensive end, he showed off a nice pull-up jumper and an ability to get to the hole. Add in the ability to hit from the perimeter and you have a really nice day by Lorenson.
JT Rock, 2024, South Dakota Attack, SF Lincoln:
The biggest man in the gym is Rock. The 6-foot-11 freshman has great hands and moves well for such a big guy. He dominates the boards and contests in the lane. When he catches in the low post he has the vision and coordination to kick it out to a cutter or shooter. But when he turns to go to the goal, he makes some moves his smaller opponents just can’t contest.
Malachi Johnson, 2024, Illinois Hoopstars – Ohanson, Rockford:
Few players showed off more moves on Saturday than the 6-foot-2 guard Johnson. He’s got great quickness and the ability to elevate in traffic. He is ultra smooth and hits floaters and quick jumpers with a high release. He is a hard worker who records a lot of “and 1’s.” He is a great ball handler and works to get the ball to open teammates.
Diego Ochoa, 2024, Tulsa Hawks Blue, Broken Arrow:
Ochoa makes plays all over the court. He’s got his hands on the ball constantly at the defensive end, intercepting passes, blocking shots, and slapping the ball out of the hands of opponents. Once he’s got the ball in his possession, the 6-foot-2 guard knows what to do with it. He hits nice runners and pull-up jumpers, dunks in the open court, and can knock down the three. He does a lot of little things, like getting in position for passes from teammates and kicking it ahead to open shooters.
