Continue ReadingThis past weekend brought a bevy of talented prospects to Lincoln, Nebraska for the second weekend of the PrepHoops Circuit with the #LiveSZNKickoff. The 17U age group featured a ton of exciting matchups featuring standout prospects and programs from across the country. Here are two groups of prospects who stood out the most amongst their peers over the weekend and are definitely names to keep an eye on this spring and summer.
All-Tournament First Team
Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK – Tulsa Hawks
Arguably, the most outstanding player of the weekend in the 17U portion of the event was a 2023 prospect who is playing up for the summer. The 6’4 guard from Tulsa put on an absolute show all weekend long and made it look easy scoring at all 3 levels and showcasing his excellent ability from beyond the arch. Friedrichsen saved his best for the last day notching a 32 point performance on Sunday to close the weekend out. Coaches should take notice of Friedrichsen very very soon.
Jayden Dawson Jayden Dawson 6'4" | CG Omaha Central | 2022 State NE – Nebraska Supreme
Another 6’4 guard who put on quite the shooting display all weekend long, Dawson led the way for a very talented Nebraska Supreme squad that was playing their first weekend together and had only practiced together four times. Supreme finished the weekend 4-1 and Dawson did it all for them. Making big shots at all three levels, including making as many as 7 three-pointers in one game, as well as one of the highlight plays of the weekend. Dawson recently received a bump in the 2022 rankings in Nebraska and rightfully so, he’s got a big summer ahead of him.
Jalen Hampton Jalen Hampton 6'7" | PF Link Year | 2022 MO – MPJ Elite
The 6’6 forward notched multiple 20 point games on the weekend for MPJ Elite. Hampton made it look relatively easy to attack and finish at the basket with authority. Hampton looked incredibly versatile on both ends of the floor. He was incredibly vocal on the defensive end and competed hard the entire weekend. He had plenty of electric plays that made everyone watching react out loud.

AJ Storr – Illinois HoopStars
The recent Illinois commit was all over the court and all over the highlight reels for Illinois HoopStars. I was thoroughly impressed with his game in all areas. He’s got the kind of athleticism that makes going up for dunks look effortless. When not making athletic plays at the rim, he stepped out and made a few 3’s as well.
Ethan Scott Ethan Scott 5'10" | PG Mustang | 2022 State OK – Team Buddy Buckets
For the second straight summer, Scott remains one of the best shooters that I have ever watched in person regardless of age, state, or setting. Scott is a microwave offensively and can get going from just about anywhere on the floor, but he thrives from three. I watched Scott finish the weekend with a 20 point outing and also watched him make 7 3’s in a game on Saturday. More schools in the midwest should have their eyes on Ethan Scott Ethan Scott 5'10" | PG Mustang | 2022 State OK .
