Here’s a look at some of the top 15U rebounders in Lincoln last weekend (in alphabetical order):
Jagger Cornell, forward, Columbia Supreme:
Cornell stood out as one of the most versatile and effective forwards on the weekend. He can really shoot from the perimeter, makes a lot of plays in the post, and can handle the ball. But he really jumped out as an undersized rebounder against a ton of size at Lincoln. He can really get up, and he has the smooth quickness to get in position to bring down a lot of rebounds.
Fritz Freeman, forward, Minnesota Chill:
Freeman tends to get overshadowed by post Kyle Jorgensen, who is really big and effective. But Freeman is the perfect complement for Jorgensen. Freeman can leap and has a ton of athleticism for a well-built 6-foot-5 freshman. He combines the power to overwhelm opponents with length, quickness and anticipation. He doesn’t dominate the ball in the half-court offense, but he gets a ton of buckets on follows.
Sylvester Jackson, forward, SSA Hoops Elite White:
Jackson worked hard on the glass all weekend as the sole big man for the Kansas club. He’s 6-foot-3 with long arms and a nose for the ball. He moves really well through traffic to get into position, and he’s got great hands to control hard to reach balls. Jackson kept a great attitude and gave his all against some much bigger posts in Lincoln.
Darren McHenry, forward, KC Runnin’ Rebels:
McHenry brings some serious physicality to the power forward spot. He’s solidly built and uses his combination of strength and jumping ability to bring in a bunch of boards. He powers through arms and rises above to reach the ball with two hands. He makes a lot of plays on the offensive glass, particularly chasing down plays in transition.
Honorable mention:
Daniel Stoner, forward, Lincoln Supreme 2025:
All the 8th graders that played up on the Lincoln Supreme 2025 club last weekend crashed the boards hard. But Stoner is the most physically developed on the team and he crashes relentlessly against his older opponents. Stoner never stops attacking, and he has strength and a knack for finding the ball off the rim. He’s a versatile player, but his rebounding ability stands out on his young club.
