Kansas was well represented by a handful of 15 clubs getting after it from the get-go.
Here are a few 15U standouts from Kansas on opening night in Kansas City:
Chase Thompson Chase Thompson 5'11" | PG Topeka West Highschool | 2024 KS , KS 94×50 Elite, Topeka West (pictured):
Putting on a show from deep, Thompson tossed in five 3-pointers in the opening round game against Missouri Flight. Thompson can handle the ball, push the tempo and dish, and direct traffic. On defense he moves his feet and harasses ball handlers. The athletic 5-foot-10 guard was dialed in from the start Friday night.
JJ Maddox, Between the Lines, Shawnee Mission West:
The 6-foot guard is an absolute blur with the ball. He has sprinters speed, quickness and body control. He excels at picking off passes and harassing ball handlers. He maneuvers the ball all over the court, finding teammates with great passes on the move.
Josiah Polynice Josiah Polynice 5'11" | PG Olathe South | 2024 State KS , KC Spurs – Silver, Olathe South:
Polynice was every bit the rival to Maddox in the battle with Between the Lines. Polynice is a great ball handler who can penetrate and create opportunities for teammates or draw fouls on shots in traffic. Defensively, he’s tough on ball and a ball hawk on anything in the air. He is smooth and controlled, but plays with high speed aggressiveness.
Blake Kilian Blake Kilian 6'6" | SF Blue Valley West | 2024 State KS , KC Spurs – Silver, Blue Valley West:
The 6-foot-4 Kilian really stood out as a guy who can go get the ball. On the offensive end, he can rebound and convert, and at the defensive end, he can push rebounds up the court himself or find effective outlets. He’s an athlete who runs the floor with the best of bigs.
Dylan Sanchez Dylan Sanchez 5'9" | SG Shawnee Heights | 2024 KS , KS 94×50 Elite, Shawnee Heights:
Sanchez isn’t a big guy, but he really makes things happen when he’s got the ball in his hands. He can drill the shot from deep, push it up court with his eyes open, and penetrate and dish or kick it out to a shooter. He’s sneaky and quick on the defensive end.
