This event boasted a ton of talent and even dwindling it down to 4 parts was a challenge in itself. But, this will wrap up the group of 18 outstanding players who caught my eye at this event!
Note: I was only at the Supreme Courts venue in Aurora, Illinois. I only scouted teams who were at that location.
James Horton James Horton 5'10" | PG Milwaukee Bay View | 2021 State WI , 6’1″, HG, Bayview (WI)/Men of Distinction Elite 2022
Horton was the leader of a tough as nails Men of Distinction Elite team who had one of the most competitive games of the tournament against Zaphian Scott and Illinois Supreme. He’s a strong guard with a good build despite his modest 6’1″ frame. He’s got a secret bounce and can threaten you with a poster if necessary. He has a reliable jumper and is unafraid to pull from pretty much anywhere on the floor. He’s a beast on the defensive end and is just a tough guy to handle on both ends. He’s a current 2021 looking to reclass to 2022, so Post-Grad programs should see Horton as a great prospect.
Zaphian Scott, 6’4″, SG, Boys and Girls (NY)/Illinois Supreme 2022
Scott had a killer performance against Men of Distinction Elite in a loss that went right down to the wire. Scott is a bulky guard who does whatever is necessary to get downhill and in the scoring lane. He is strong and has the aggression needed to blow by or absolutely bully defenders. He’s also got a jumper that is solid enough to force defenders into tough situations. Defensively, his build is a huge advantage and makes him a wall to get through. He had 27 points in a tough loss to MODE and was a threat to every team he faced. The New York hooper definitely has the skills to succeed at the next level and will have a great senior season.
Kyle Millinder, 6’3″, SG, DEPSA (MI)/Michigan Goonies 2022
Millinder isn’t the guy who stands out to you in warmups, but on the court, he is a real threat. He is incredibly lanky for his position, making finishing and getting to the free throw line easy. He is also a crafty guard who has a good enough handle to punish even the best of on ball defenders. He has a reliable jumpshot and was a great option on the fast break. Offensively, Millinder seemed like the full package and made a huge impact for a solid Michigan Goonies squad.
Jalen Jackson, 5’7″, Lakeshore (MI)/Michigan Goonies 2022
Jackson was one of my favorite stories from the whole weekend. At 5’7″, Jackson is an underwhelming prospect at first glance. But Jackson has more fight in him than anyone else on the floor. With an impressive handle and a knack for putting the ball in the right spot, Jackson was the glue that the Goonies needed to get the pieces together. He never gave up, no matter who was guarding him, and was killing everyone on the floor. Jackson will definitely have success this season with his electric and infectious attitude and will generate a following if he keeps playing like this all AAU season.
Dayton Davis, 6’3″, Fort Madison (IA)/Team Iowa Elite 2022
Davis is a bouncy and skilled forward who was a problem for all defenses. An avid rebounder and effective jumper, Davis was frequently found in the air either putting the ball up from offensive boards or trying to put someone in the basket. He even was able to flaunt a jumper and had a good handle, leading him to be a form of smaller forward that was able to play both outside and inside the painted area. He was a good shot blocker who has a nice reach and can punish offenses who softly come in the paint. Davis’ stock in Iowa should rise this season after his impressive performance.
