Tons of top prospects were showcased here from classes ranging from 2025 all the way to 2021. Here we take a look at 8, 2022s that stood out to me this weekend.
Branden Northern Branden Northern 5'11" | PG Silver Creek | 2022 State IN – Silver Creek – 5’11 2022 PG: Northern is a smaller lead guard that has outstanding court vision. He was real sharp here with everything he did, especially with his distributing. Was real solid about penetrating the defense and was either finishing at the rim, pulling up for a 15fter, or kicking out for an open look. His first step is so quick and he just seems to be a tad smarter that everyone on the court. He isn’t going to wow you with flashy and fancy plays but is going to get you to respect his play just because of how consistent he is. I think he is starting to prove that he could be a D1 prospect.
Jaxson Edwards – Cathedral – 6’6 2022 SF: Edwards is a taller wing that is so athletically gifted. Has a long body with a good amount of speed to his game. Looked to be at his best off the ball when he was cutting to the basket and getting the ball thrown to him mid cut. Had a monster slam from an explosive drive from the top of the key. Real solid defender and had a few steals and fastbreak scorers. Still has a some rawness but has the talent and athleticism to bring out the potential that is just dying to come out. Could really breakout this AAU season.
Chandler Jackson Chandler Jackson 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2022 State IN – Warren Central – 6’6 2022 SF: Jackson is a taller wing with so much energy. High level scorer that can score at all levels and can really put up points if he is in rhythm. Defense was on par and had a few steals that resulted in him slamming it on the other end. If he is in transition with the ball he is very difficult to stop because of his speed and length. Outside shot is solid and has a good amount of creativeness to his style. He really does just have all the tools to impress anybody that watches him. Has that ability to be a dominate player if he wants to.
Jackson Ullom Jackson Ullom 5'11" | PG Monroe Central | 2022 State IN –Monroe Central – 5’10 2022 PG: Ullom is a small lead guard that plays with toughness. IQ is pretty high and plays unselfishly. Strong frame and has the speed with it to get to the rim and scorer on the bigs. Solid shooter off the catch but needs just a little more work with hitting those outsiders consistently. Play making lead guard that does not let his size hold him back. D3 level guard at the moment.
Dejuan Echoles – Warren Central – 6’2 2022 SF: Echoles is physically and athletically above every player that shares the court with him. He has got that football player in him so he plays very physical and aggressive. Hard to stop in the paint and good luck to anybody that is going to try to box him out and out-rebound him. Can shoot it from the outside a little but at his best when he is scoring in the paint. Raw talent but plays extremely hard. Just plays like a man amongst boys.
Marco Fitch Marco Fitch 6'0" | PG Bloomington North | 2022 State IN – Bloomington North – 6’0 2022 PG: Fitch is a stronger lead guard that is real scrappy. Tough player that goes at you and never takes plays off. Defense heavy and had a strong steal that resulted in him scoring an And1. He isn’t the smallest or the biggest so he ramps up the intensity so make himself standout. Didn’t get a chance to see his outside jumper but can say he has a strong first step. Just needs to use this AAU season to continue to work on fine tuning his style.
Patrick Joyce – Bloomington South – 6’1 2022 SG: Joyce is a smaller shooting guard but can really light it up at times. Smooth looking outside jumper and works hard to get himself open. Shorter sized player but plays tough. Real solid handles and even has that lead guard in him and can work to find his teammates for looks. His size could hold him back a little but with his ability to shoot the ball he could get opportunities at or around the D3 level.
Nick Mundy – Mitchell – 6’1 2022 SG: Mundy is a shooting guard that is always aggressive no matter what the situation is. Offense wasn’t quite there this game but his defense was almost perfect against the bigger mismatches as he did an excellent job in stepping over and helping on the weak side. Played a little more on the ball in the game I watched and was strong on his drives. Might be more suited playing off the ball in the long term where he can work to get better looks. Hard to tell where he is at as far as next level because his options really do range from D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO. Needs to do a little more skill development but right now he is on the right track and playing hard like he needs to.
