Continue ReadingAfter the culmination of the high school season in the state of Idaho, media members from across the state voted for two teams of players for an all-star game. The rosters were split into two teams with players representing big city schools and rural schools on the Metro team and Region team, respectively. The game was rather competitive throughout for an all-star game and the Region squad took home a win on a last second dunk. The next two articles will take a look at each team’s top performers and standouts from the game. Continue reading for a look at the top performers from the Metro squad during the All-Star game.
Lukas Broadsword Lukas Broadsword 6'6" | PF Centennial | 2021 State ID , Centennial: Lukas led the Metro squad in scoring at the all-star game with a 15-point performance. Throughout the regular season, Lukas was a big contributor for Centennial on the offensive and defensive end and his size creates a lot of havoc for opposing teams. Lukas displayed an improving jump shot which will only get better as he stays in the gym and he also showed his dominant post moves, ability to pass, and his love for going after rebounds on both ends of the floor.
Cooper Lumsden Cooper Lumsden 6'3" | SG Timberline | 2021 State ID , Timberline: Cooper was right behind Lukas in scoring as he finished with 14-points on a solid shooting night. Cooper has a great looking jumper from outside and he loves to get to the pull-up jumper in the paint while he rises over the top of shorter defenders. Lumsden has great size for his position and an impressive wingspan that makes him a tough defender and gives him an advantage to play over the top of smaller defenders and weaker defenses altogether. Cooper has a great feeling for the game and always plays at a high level.
Covy Kelly Covy Kelly 6'0" | PG Garden Valley | 2021 State ID , Garden Valley: Covy was third on the Metro team in the scoring category as he finished the all-star game with a 13-point performance. Covy has proven his ability to score incredibly well thanks to an arsenal of ball-handling moves, a great looking jumper, finesse around the rim, and the mental approach of a true scorer. Kelly posted 45-points for Garden Valley in the state championship game and I am sure we will be watching him score on anyone and everyone for years to come at the next level.
